MK11 and fight sticks

Does anyone use a fightstick with this game?

I just watched the grandfinals of Evo 2019, and it looks like everyone is using a pad.

I'm a little confused, is this a generation thing or are pads better for MK11?

It's certainly a bit of personal preference, but the MK game inputs just tend to work a bit better on a pad than a stick. Netherrealm has also clearly focused on making those games work well on just a standard controller.

MK doesn't have much in the way of complex directional inputs (dragon punches, quarter/half/full circle) where you might get more benefit from a stick, so it's often easier and faster to just tap out the directions on a pad.

Having block on a trigger also seems preferable to having it on a fightstick button.

@chaser324: I'm finding it a bit hard to get the D-pad to register some inputs, so I thought about trying a fight stick instead.

If it's just a matter of preference, then I don't feel too bad about trying something else instead.
