Own a Zune? Did this happen?

But as that guy said it was something to do with the firmware being unable to handle 2009 as a leap year.

Confirmed: My 30GB Zune does not work.

Guess who just won (via a charity auction) a Gears of War 2 Zune? 

I'm restricted to just downloading podcast and my own CD's.  Guess I won't be updating and syncing until this is fixed.  Also, I do not use it wireless. 
I've enjoyed using it, but it is a bit of a chore to remember how it works (being used to a i-pod for years). 
The Zune pass is something I enjoyed using until copy protection made it stop dead.  It is a better idea than i-tunes (one time service that you can download unlimited music - sort of) but getting to work on my computer requires burning inscense and satrificing a goat.  Either that or getting my girlfriend to come over to make computer work.

30 gig zunes you mean not zunes world wide, I have a 160 gig and it works fine.

Haven't turned my Zune on since last night, so I don't know. I'll try it now and see what happens, besides, it isn't even the New Year yet for me.

My 8 GB zune is fine. I guess this where we play the waiting game.

One theory I've heard is that with the leap second added to today, the 30 gig can't handle it. It attempts to calculate the time, sees the extra second, goes "DUDE WHAT" and freezes up. My 80 gig is fine, so something's up with the old hardware.

I see the problem here -- Microsoft is trying to get the crazy people who have 30GB Zunes to upgrade to the new ones! Great idea!

mine is dead too. Last time I buy from Microsoft, 360's and vista and mp3 players how hard is it to make a product that works.

Apparently 30gb zunes world wide died at 2 am this morning. (American time i guess.)

haha, well actually not yet. Due to some problems with fedex claiming my adress doesnt exist, it shipped out pretty late and I haven't recieved it yet. I'm chilling with a 16 gig Ipod Touch instead for the moment. And to my understanding this only is occuring on 1st gen 30 gig Zunes. The one that I won is a 3rd gen 120 gig"

Microsoft is working on a patch that should be released soon. www.zuneinsider.com. Microsoft must've sold a lot of Zunes this holiday season, i guess its thanks to the price drops and it being in the top 20 google search topics the last 2 months. Its sure getting popular.

Yep, happened to me.

Apparently its a glitch in the internal clock or something. Apparently the issue should fix itself by tomorrow noon.

I don't have one, but i have a friend who has one so i got to make fun of him.

I don't have a Zune but i did get a new ipod touch that stopped working already.

My iPod quit working too! But it MAY be because of the trip through the washing machine.

It fixes itself if you let the battery die, and then recharge it.

Mine is up and running.

It was supposed to fix itself when the new year started. If your Zune was affected, is it fine now?
