Which is the future you most believe in/wish for?
I wish to see ArenaNet succeed at realizing their lofty plans. I want to play their promised future the most.
Honestly though, I will play both no matter what. But I take decisive action for Guild Wars 2 in this poll.
Promised Land : Guild Wars 2 VS Star Wars : The Old Republic - Lofty Promises of a Gameplay Revolution VS Evolution Through Superior Storytelling - Who's Promise is More Enticing? Who Can Deliver the Goods? Who Will Take the Pot (Your Time and Money)? Pre
Guild Wars 2 will most likely be awesome upon release, but as with GW1, content updates will simply grow fewer and fewer until they pretty much completely stop. Either that, or players will essentially be forced to conduct frequent microtransactions. The downfalls of the "no subscription" MMO model.
(I would also take the so called gameplay revolutions with a grain of salt; they stated that GW1 would have no grinding, but people still grinded for money and titles last time I checked :/)
Old Republic hasn't impressed me thus far, but I also have faith that Bioware will deliver a great product in the end.
Thats samus zero suit." @Supermarius: Your avatar is a witch! A bullet witch like Bayonetta I presume? "
I'll get both but I will tell you this. SWTOR will be SWG if the NGE were done right. Star Wars lovers and people who loved WoW will probably flock to it, It's hard to say if it'll be as big as WoW, but it will be huge. I don't see that game being a revolution at all. Just more of the same, but the quality will be top notch in all aspects.
GW2 will bring new ideas and such, but I don't see this game bringing in a huge audience. It will bring in more than enough people to make it a success, but it won't reach astronomical numbers. I don't think revolution is the right thing to call this game. It will evolve old ideas and formulas, but it won't completely change the genre.

We're talking about Guild Wars 2, which isn't heavily instanced and clustered like Guild Wars 1. So yeah - that's about right." My main issue with the poll answers is how Guild Wars is constantly referred to as an "MMO". "
Watch the manifesto. Catch some hype - will'ya please?
Yeah well, I'm talking aboout Guild Wars 1, ArenaNet called that an MMO too." @ProfessorEss said:

Guild Wars 2 is GORGEOUS, and they're talking a big game.
Then again, the first one was gorgeous and they talked a big game about that one too.
Still, none of this actually makes it an MMO.
Sure I could be wrong, but after GW1, there are few games I'm more skeptical about than this.
...but I do look forward to seeing how it all pans out.
I was a huge fan of the first Guild Wars, and my excitement for Guild Wars II is through the roof, so that was my pick.
I'm also looking forward to TOR, but I'm still not sold on the actual gameplay. It seems like "just another MMO" at this point, whereas ArenaNet looks to at least be trying something new.
Being someone who doesn't like to pay a monthly fee for games, hopefully GW2 turns out awesome. However, I am definitely interested in both games.
About your title... WTF? lol :)
I just finished KotOR about a week ago. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but come on. That game is like 75% dialogue, and it looks like that's the touted feature of this game too. Not interested.
I've been playing through Guild Wars lately (bought them years ago, WoW distracted me) and I have to say I really like it. I had fun when it was new as well, but it wasn't until I actually dug into the skill system and starting making my own builds that I realized how awesome this game is. No joke, I'm enjoying it as much as when I played WoW. If GW2 maintains the skill system, the PvP, and the casual pacing that the first game has, it will be my MMO of choice. Either way, day one purchase for me.
I'm kind of curious to see how they are going to handle Guild Wars 2. Are they going to create separate instances for how far along in the main storyline a player has progressed? If so, I can see there being a problem with certain instances having next to no people in them and not being able to play with your friends. Have they gone into any specifics about any of this stuff? The stuff they're saying in that video is pretty hyperbolic.
