The game is called Massive Action Game, why would it be a surprise if the cover was over the top. Would you prefer a graph like sega master system cover with the words MAG shown faintly. I don't understand why criticize the cover when it pretty much honestly captures what the game is about.
@HypoXenophobia: Can I be honest here? Your sarcastic alternate solution to a MAG cover sounds hilariously awesome. What better way to counter the sheer craziness the MAG multiplayer will no doubt be than with a miniscule cover. Some burnt edges on the graph paper slightly revealing the crazy cover we have now and were in business.
On a more serious note, I fully respect the chaos of the MAG cover.
@HypoXenophobia: That is a valid point indeed. It IS supposed to be over-the-top, and I wouldn't want some arbitrary soldier-dude making a pose on an FF XIII-esque cover. Maybe I'm just too used to covers featuring only one person with some stuff behind him/her (e.g. Assassin's Creed II, Modern Warfare 2, Batman, Uncharted 2). MAG's cover isn't "bad," per se, but it is ludicrous, for better or for worse. I guess what really bugs me is the first-person view with the gun at the bottom. Ah well...
@Illmatic: It would be kinda cool, not necessarily for MAG, but say like if they made a Manhunt 3. Where in the front was a sheet of paper, that was like the master system graph paper that just said Manhunt 3.Then when you take out the sheet, you get the true cover. Something graphics, like a guy with a lead pipe bashing some guys head in. It would be kinda cool if some company did a false cover just to sneak their way into Walmart, just to truly disturb some kid chistmas morning.
I think the MAG boxart is one of the best boxarts that have come in a long while. It's full of action, captures what the game's about and looks pretty freakin' awesome. These days, boxarts are boring and sometimes lack creativity.
Bwahaha! This is amazing. They are just so awkwardly drawn, it reminds me of the way some stained glass windows in churches have the people positioned so awkwardly sometimes. And why are they crying?! What is he pointing at?!
I kind of agree. It's not that it's bad, it just looks like some awkward kind of movie poster what with the super-serious glares and that chick's hair. I dunno....
@Jim_uk: There is a 1up video cast that used to run called "Broken Pixels" that showed this game. Its a completely bonkers shm'up that is just as camp as though screenshots imply.
