As seen in the above Tweet, Nintendo is moving forward with their plans to sunset the digital marketplaces for the Wii U and 3DS. In a later Tweet, the company clarified that "after 3/27/2023 and for the foreseeable future, it will still be possible to redownload games and DLC, receive software updates and enjoy online play on Wii U consoles and Nintendo 3DS systems." However, in a subsequent announcement the company revealed that sales of Fire Emblem Fates will end one month earlier and upon 02/28/2023, Fates and its DLC, wherein one finds the game's canonical "complete" storyline, will become unpurchasable.
Sales of the game Fire Emblem Fates will end one month earlier, on 28/02/2023. DLC for Fire Emblem Fates, including story paths accessible after the completion of Chapter 6, will still be available until 27/03/2023.

Obviously, many of the games impacted have since been released on the Nintendo Switch. However, many smaller digital games have yet to see legal alternative versions and that is especially the case with the 3DS. So, if there are any games on that or the Wii U you were thinking about purchasing, now is the time to do that.
