seeing as how most of the games with cool and original music have come out, and i know how y'all love best of topics, so what is it? For my money it kinda has to be sonic generations, because MAN. MAAAAAAAAN. that chemical plant remix... the death egg remix... so good. Catherine's a close second though.
the best soundtrack of 2011?
Blazblue, is a game I'd not play (not into fighting games) but some cool music for sure.
BTW: this thread is pointless without the music!!
For the music I like you can check: http://www.last.fm/user/trylks :D
PS: I've just check that this game is from 2009, WTF? Anyway, the music is still cool, sorry for going offtopic.
@Trylks: BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II did come out this year, though much of its music is also from the original Continuum Shift that came out last year.
It's a tough call for me. Most of the games I've played this year so far either didn't have very memorable music, or were remakes with tracks that are already well known. But I suppose I'd have to give the edge to Yakuza 4, followed by Catherine.

Thank you both for coming here and saying the two things I was going to say.Shadows of the Damned

Sonic Generations has fantastic music. Chemical Plant remix is fucking awesome, but by far the best score I have heard in any game this year goes to Socom 4/Special Forces by Bear McCreary. Ghost Trick, Bastion and inFamous 2 are also really, really good.
Shadows of the Damned, followed by the last 2 peices of Portal 2, particularly the Opera. That last peice is truly beautiful.
In Europe and Australia it came out this year.@Hizang said:
I liked Pokemon Black/White's, but Uncharted 3 and Kirbys Epic Yarns are also great.Epic Yarn came out last year.
Lot of great soundtracks out this year, feels like more than usual. LA Noire had a great, evocative OST, Uncharted 3's is top notch as always, and I am still way into Catherine's soundtrack, but Bastion takes the cake easily. The number of times I've listened to every one of those songs is proof enough of how much I love that soundtrack.
Infamous 2's was surprisingly unusual and cool.
As for the best, I haven't played anything this year with really exceptional music, but Bastion and Shadows of the Damned seem to be up there. And of course Jeremy Soule is a goddamn genius, so Skyrim could be the obvious winner about a week from now.
Bastion is the only soundtrack I bought.
Granted I got a lot of soundtracks for free, but that isn't the point.
Bastion was my favorite of the year until I heard the main theme for Skyrim. I think Skyrim will turn out now to be my favorite for the year with Bastion right behind it.
First that comes to mind is Portal 2's OST. Frozen Synapse is also pretty great.
And Skyrim will no doubt be awesome.
I've only heard like two songs from the Skyrim soundtrack (terrible quality though since it's youtube) so I can't really nominate that but I do agree that it sounds good but for all we know since none of us have played it yet only 4 tracks are actually good and the rest of the soundtrack is just the developers making fart noises
