Trailer of the year?

What was your favorite trailer that was shown in 2013?

For me it was the Nintendo Direct Wonderful 101 trailer. It is amazing how such a long trailer has close to no spoilers at all beyond some very basic stuff. It serves as a good introduction to the characters and was the thing that sold me on the game.

Are we talking in terms of effectiveness, humor, games that came out this year? I know it has a lot to do with my personal tastes, but trailers for No Man's Sky and The Witness come to mind.

Worst trailer of the year that's so bad I found it hilarious goes to: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate

My vote is for the original Deep Down trailer at the PS4 reveal. Regardless of whether the game turns out looking like that it was the first real moment of "wow, so this is what next-gen is going to be" for me.

What is this? Gametrailers? I don't believe in awarding promotional material.

I tried to fix it, nothing happened, said screw it and moved on. It was the extended trailer for The Last of Us, because it's incredible. Oh well though.

Train Simulator 2014

I've been having problems with embedding videos since yesterday, so I'll just link to my favorite trailer this year. Saints Row 4.

I thought the War Thunder trailer at E3 was pretty dope. The reveal for the new Wolfenstein game was also pretty good.

A bad time for this thread, when the site is broken and its engineer has left.

I'm going to say The Witness. That trailer they showed back at the first PS4 event is still absolutely fantastic.

Runner-up would have to be The Stanley Parable. The fact that all of the that game's marketing/demo/actual game is so consistent in tone is pretty amazing to me.

Hmm, that was pretty great. Mainly the Phil Collins integration, really pulled the trailer together.

If I had to choose one, it's a pretty easy choice.

Soundtrack just reminded me that this game was still alive somehow. I was always fascinated with the visual art design and world setting from its initial reveal. It captured me pretty hard back then and I had the same feeling after the re-reveal.

No Mans Sky

I don't know, some trailers are just getting longer and longer, and that's the whole lets play fault. Behind the scenes technical mumbo jumbo is under whelming since I know a good deal on animation and when they present it sounds worse. Even MGS5 and I'm a fanboy felt could have been cut down to less then a minute of just cool shots. And this is someone who gasped at the idea of mother base being destroyed. Trailers are just getting worse and worse.

Transistor is easily the best trailer period. It has enough atmosphere and personality that I want to know more about it. Plus that music is HOTTTTTTTTTTTT.

This, and all the other CD Projekt-related trailers.

The Dead Space 3 launch trailer would have been so much better if it had used the actual Phil Collins version of the song. I was super glad to see NBA 2K14 use it, so awesome.

Imho some of the best this year.

That Witcher 3 trailer is so damn gorgeous, but the No Man's Sky trailer blew my mind the most this year I think.

Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077, the witcher 3, infamous second son, GTA 5 and FF15 had amazing trailers this year. Can't wait for those games to come out!

I think Phantom Pain had the best trailer by a long shot. I was going to say Guilty Gear, but after thinking about it for a second, I feel like my love of that trailer comes completely from my love of Guilty Gear. So as a Guilty Gear fan, yeah, it's the fucking hypest shit ever, but if you remove that aspect, I don't think it's that good if I'm being honest.

That Dragonball Z: Battle of Z trailer was entertaining.

Seriously, though, nothing really excited me more than No Man's Sky. You can get in your spaceship and fly up, through the atmosphere, and into space. And you can explore the galaxy. That sounds very, very exciting to me, landing on an unfamiliar, faraway planet and flying around the landscape, looking for resources and fighting off enemies. I'd love to play it co-op, though.

It was already posted in here so I'm not going to embed it, but that nine minute long MGS V trailer is mad fucking intense and somehow sold me even more on a game I'm already guaranteed to buy day one.

I would have to agree with the GTA V Official Trailer. It was great.

Showing a game is one thing, but showing the joy that game brings is one better.

Otherwise gotta give it to Cyberpunk, Witcher 3 or even the new intro they put into Witcher 2, but I think that was 2012.
