My friend used to talk about having trouble with the quests, so I made an account to try them. Ever since I just love the forums and news.
What Brought You to Giantbomb??
I wonder how many times this has been quoted now lol." @Milkman said:
" Jeff. After he left GameSpot, I followed his blog and came here. ""
i was a long time listener of the hotspot when rich gallup was hosting. After gerstmanngate (people still call it that right?) i followed arrow pointing down (ryans blog) where they had a podcast and one day i read on kotaku that giantbomb went live and came to check it out. As of today every tuesday i listen to the bombcast. Its my favorite feature.
I found out about Giantbomb through Jeff's wikipedia page, and within two weeks I was coming here all the time.
Again, Jeff. The whole fiasco summed up how I was begining to feel about games journalism in general. Adspace + hyped titles = good review scores.
It was nice to have a site that tried to move away from that, and focus on games that are just fun. A game doesn't need to be massively hyped and popular to be AAA.
I follow a lot of video game news sites in Google Reader and a bunch of them started talking about Jeff's new venture. I checked it out and the visual style of Giant Bomb roped me in and then hooked me on the features.
" If you didn't come here because Jeff got fired from GameSpot you are fucking morons. What the...?
I could answer this but I've done so in the dozens of other "How did you find Giant bomb?" threads.
" Jeff. After he left GameSpot, I followed his blog and came here. "Yeah, after the entire "awesome" crew left after Gerstmann Gate, I left as well. Rich and Carrie had already left months before, same with Greg K, so really for me, there was no one left to read, watch, listen to, ect.
" Jeff. After he left GameSpot, I followed his blog and came here. "Same here. I loved Jeff on the HotSpot and when he left Gamespot I googled his name and found his blog. Haven't looked back!
I am pretty surprised by how many "new" people we have that just came here because of what Giantbomb was doing, not cause these guys were followed from Gamespot. I guess it just goes to show you what a big name these guys made for themselves. I mean there are a bunch of people in the industry who usually don't listen to podcasts, but listen to the Bombcast like weekly.
I saw spoony (from the spoony experiment) talking on a VLOG about persona 4. Someone in the comments mentioned this site. I noticed Jeff and Ryan were here which I had not known what had happened to Jeff after he was fired, and I basically stay because all these guys are funny and relatable.
Originally I came over cause I was following the Gerstman situation.
I left for a while and then came back when my interest in others sites and their forums died.
Well, I used to frequent Kotaku, but I got caught up in hte kotakupocalypse (if you weren't there, it was just a mass banning of commenters). So I wanted a site that looked after it's community a bit more, and the first site spoken back to me when I asked was Giant Bomb. Here I am, and I have to agree with them. I like it here :)
I am not certain, but I think it was through Jeff's wikipedia entry which I checked after gametrailers had an interesting "bonus round" on gaming journalism.
" If you didn't come here because Jeff got fired from GameSpot you are fucking morons.you're nice...
Same here. I was a diehard Gamespot fan from day one. I remember it was Videogames.com. Shit, I remember when Videogames.com was a "coming soon" splash page." Jeff. After he left GameSpot, I followed his blog and came here. "
Any Daily Radar, Next-Gen, or GIA fans here? Those were my old spots.
I found there podcast on itunes one day and started listening to it. After about a month I finally decided to go check out the website to see how good it really was and was absolutely blown away by it with the videos good forums and just the feel of the site. I now come back everyday to see what's new or just to start participating in the forums for a little bit.
Found the Bombcast on itunes, loved it, went to the site and watched the Lets Tap unboxing and was SOLD
Jeff making me laugh, Bombcast, Quick Looks.
I wish they'd update the site more often though. Gaming news is fine but there's other places you can get that sooner, and to be honest it's difficult to write up news stories without them sounding like the press releases that they usually are.
I'd like to see the team writing some opinion pieces about gaming, what's in the news etc. I really enjoy listening to/reading the views of the different members of the team, but presently you only really get that once a week, and much of the news discussed during the Bombcast is inevitably days old.
" Jeff. After he left GameSpot, I followed his blog and came here. "yep I was here either day one or day 2 I forgot, I liked Jeffs work at gamespot and was upset when he was fired
