what do you call games like Tekken, Streetfighter, SoulCalibur?

  why is most european refer fighting games like Tekken(exclude scenariomode)/Soulcalibur/Streetfighter/KOF as Beat'EmUp?
 
those kind of fighting games is properly called "VS Fighting Game"
 
Beat'EmUP is something like FinalFight//DynastyWarriors2+/BattleToad ect.....
 
i have seen more than 4 european review site refer VS FIGHTING GAME as Beat'EmUp. amused me.

It's possibly differences in lingo from different countries. Just a guess.

Is this really a question..? They are fighting games...

Beat-em-ups refer to games like Final Fight, TMNT IV: Turtles in Time, Streets of Rage, and more recently, The Warriors. 
 
Tekken, Street Fighter, and SoulCalibur are clearly identified as being fighting games.

I just call them fighting games. No versus necessary. I can't really think of a non-versus fighting game offhand.

even if its just by region of call things differently.... but still a true gamer will know that calling Soul Calibur a Beat'EmUP is plain silly.

Anyway the last Beat em Up games I've played were back in SuperNES and SEGA Genesis which was Double Dragon, Streets of Rage (AKA Bare Knukle), Final Fight, and the very 1st Ninja Gaiden in the arcades.:p

None of those. I call them fighting games. Beat em up is a completely different genre, so I don't see why anyone would call it that.

I'm from the UK and I have never heard anyone over here refer to Tekken, Street Fighter or Soul Calibur as beat 'em ups. Everyone calls them fighting games.

Even when everyone else and their moms calls them Fighting Games. 
Heck, I live in a European country and everyone here calls games like that Fighting Games.
