I remember Mark of Kri having some pretty badass stealth kills. That game was awesome.

I really liked the stealth kills in Turok. They weren't extravagant or badass, but they looked and felt very realistic, and I'm a person who definitely likes realism.

The reason I'm asking is because I was thinking of the doctor from Tenchu (Tesshu) who could disarm an enemy without a weapon. Of course I knew he killed his enemies, but when I saw his stealth kills, they were more brutal than I could remember. Snake and Ezio may kill a man, but they don't break his arms and snap his neck like Tesshu. Is Tesshu worse than James Earl Cash? What game made you think "There's a stealth kill and then there's overboard!"

@Parabole:
For me anyway I separate "stealth kills" from "anything in manhunt".
That game is on a whole other level of effed up.

I remember Manhunt giving me one of my biggest 'oh snap!' moments when you perform the brutal kill with the baseball bat and your victims head is literally all over the nearest wall. Probably the most memorable to date.

For gameplay, in splinter cell Chaos theory, the opportunity to hang above an enemies head from a pipe and as they pass under, hang by your knees and snap their neck.  so awesome.  for cinematic, MW2 where soap and price are inverted repelling kill the 2 of sheperd's guards, eye rolling back into the head = gruesome/awesome

I love me the Manhunt executions, with the crowbar being one of my favourite weapons for it. Some of them in Manhunt 2 are pretty disturbing too, even behind that annoying filter.

Man, I would love a new and proper Tenchu game that was as good as the original.

A choice of two small, old games and other in a poll? Seems kinda pointless.

I really enjoyed the melee kills from Shadow Complex. They felt rooted in realism.

 I don't know if you would call them stealth kills per se... but I usually got them when I was being stealthy.

This, and the Assassin's Creed games.  While I agree that the scripted stealth kills from Call of Duty games are rather badass, I'd prefer to create situations where I can stealth kill anyone.

Anyone mention Hitman? actually that game was a bit difficult at the time, wasn't used to stealth anything.

Manhunt was a legit game to me, though I felt pretty creeped out at the time for waiting for the good one. I actually felt a little better when it became a shooter in the second half.  I was half ignoring and not really understanding the color coding till they forced you to in the Insane asylum. Drug Whore, or whatever the name, was brutal hardcore yet  the only comic rekief I remember in that game.

Nothing like sneaking up on a dead brained neo nazi muttering about how his drunk abusive daddy beat him didn't love him but  daddy would now since he( the son) was a proud member of the aryan race, and put him out of his misery in some  sick fashion.

Metal Gear as a nostalgia answer.

Nothing like jamming on square until dude's neck snaps.
