What is the most disappointing sequel you have ever played?

Devil May Cry 2. 
 
3 was great though, but by the time 4 came out I'd lost interest in the series.

I haven't played Activision's new sequel to Goldeneye yet, but I'll let you know.

Resident Evil 5 and Bioshock 2. Neither are bad games, they just were not as good as the games they followed.

I thought Underworld was alright. It wasn't up there with Legend but I didn't hate it. The game had some serious bugs though. I agree it was too short.  DMC 2 is also one of the games that I was most disappointed with. "

MGS 4

Tekken 4 and everything in that series after that. 
 
And I think the reason most people didn't like Bioshock to was because they were "dumb" enough to expect that it would make them go "HOLY SHIT THIS SETTING IS AWESOME!" like the first one did. 
Sadly there was nothing new in Bioshock 2 so people disappointed  themselves with that hype. It was an ok game though

I really, really enjoyed what I played of Fable 2. The combat system and world were a lot of fun to explore and experiment with. The problem with that game is that it doesn't effing work. Brand new disk, brand new Xbox, game still freezes all the time without installing it (which I don't have the space to do). I constantly would lose hours of play time, so I just gave up. Maybe I'll go back to it before the third one comes out.

Honestly, Infamous 2 has set itself up to be on this list next year.

I'd say Need for Speed: Carbon (or anything after Most Wanted, really.)

Devil May Cry 2- Was the first DMC i played but then after going back and playing 1 i realised how bad it was.
 
Resident Evil 5 - I love the game but it just felt like i was playing RE 4.5 The HD Co-OP Edition (In Africa)

Gears of War 2 and BioShock 2 come to mind pretty quickly.
 
A much earlier candidate would be Donkey Kong Country 3 but at least this one wasn't completely busted like the others I mentioned.

Deus Ex: Invisible War was bad, and it also ran like shit at the time.
