You'll notice most of these are from the PC. I'm not claiming bias or anything, it's just that most of the intro's from the PC tend to be more memorable to me. The videos below are the best quality I could find in my limited time searching for'em, so take a second and wait while the higher quality one loads up - you really have to see these in as high-res as possible in order to really appreciate it. Now I know I've most likely left off your favourite one from the list, and thats fine, I'm not claiming to have seen'em all. Just write it down in the comments or embed a good quality version of it below.

Personally, these are my favorite cutscenes, and I'm torn between Mark of Chaos and Homeworld . . . . . I think I'm gonna go with Homeworld, simply because we've never seen anything like it before, but the production values of the intro to Mark of Chaos are unbelievable....why do I make these choices so hard??????

Oh, and the 2 qualifiers are that it has to be a game out presently, and it has to be the introductory cinematic, not a trailer, otherwise The Old Republic or Diablo III would probably take the cake.

PS......would gametrailers be the best place to find all these vids? youtube is doing a pretty good job with the sheer amount of content, but not always at the highest quality . . .

I'm an archaich fart, so i go way, way back to the SNES era.
The intro of Nosferatu blew me away, back then.

For the youngers among you this must be hard to imagine, but i was amazed by it.

I don't know if I liked it the best but I was always fond of it because it completely disappeared from the game shortly after the release of the first expansion.

I like the intro to Killzone 2. Where the bad guy's talking. Excellent voice acting there.
Don't know if it's the best intro ever, but I think it's worthy of a mention here.

Considering all the threads out there that really should have been polls, it's almost refreshing to see a reversal and stumble upon a poll that really should have been a thread. I'm going to be "that guy" and say Final Fantasy VII. That epic camera sweep out to the full-city view of Midgar is still as breathtaking to me now as it was when I first played the game ten years ago.

@belaraphon: Dude, seriously. Not only does Blizzard have a freaky cinematics department, but some shots in that look like something they just put a camera there and a guy in costume, almost real life.

@Meptron: I was really thinking about putting that one in there, but when it cuts to the regular ISA soldiers talking, thats when it looses points for me.

@dankempster: I almost put that one in there based on the music alone...still gives me shivers. But you're right, more people would be accepting of the poll if I wasn't 'that guy' who put FF7 in there.

@TwoOneFive: I almost wanted to exclude MGS clips, because those are basically movies in and of themselves...but that doesn't take away from the quality whatsoever. MGS4 is crazyawesomegood.

That's tough.

FF8 and Chrono Cross had great intros. The music is amazing. But if we are talking just the cinematic part I really liked the first Warhammer Online intro. It had comedy and great atmosphere. The Dwarf Slayer is a badass.

You really should have put more than pc games maybe 1 or 2 from a system, and I don't think half life counts as cinematic because its all gameplay. But off the top of my head mgs3 had a pretty good opening.

GOD THEY NEED TO MAKE A WoW MOVIE! Everytime I watch the original or Lich King intro, two things happen; I have an incredibly strong urge to go play WoW (until I realize the cinematics are 1000x better than anything actually in the game), and I wonder why they haven't made a movie yet.
