I'd take a natural disaster over anything. When shit go nuclear or parasite mutations, you're more than guaranteed that it will spill over into the wildlife and we're in a world of shit.

i'm going with post nuclear, best chance to rebuild as long as there are some non radiated people to carry on breeding and stuff. alien or natural disaster were close second, natural coz it's pretty much like the nuclear and alien because it's better than zombies. all zombies are horrible, though i'd choose slow rather than fast, but the never resting thing and constant moaning would drive me mental and i'd end up offing myself.

Post natural disaster. Because zombie invasions never turn out well, and nuclear Armageddon would leave radiation all over the place. But a meteor, for example, would render everything nicely post-apoc without leaving mutants and/or carnivorous corpses wandering all over the place endangering the survivors for years to come.
I don't know which one I would pick, but I definitely know which one I think is the scariest, and that would be the super volcano eruption, because I think is the only one (among the non fantasy/science fiction ones) that there's absolutely nothing that could be done about , a meteor for example no matter how difficult it would be to detect and how much unlikely it would be to stop, at least there would still be a slight chance.
If a super volcano goes that's it, the country in which it is would have most if not all of it obliterated and the rest of the world would be eventually effed by the possible ice age that would ensue.
Also not only it's not just science fiction BS, some scientists say it's only a matter of time.
