Why alot people shit up left4dead visual as last gen?

I think next to Crysis best models on market.
 I think game have best facial animations also.
Why people say it look shit I not understand.

I don't know why people hate on it either.  I actually prefer the way games made on the source engine look. Most other games look like someone rubbed a layer of gloss over everything.

Yeah the models are great, source engine has always been known for awesome character models and some of the best facial animations in the industry. But some of the set pieces are bad looking (i.e. the vehicles you escape in and the cars in the levels)

It still makes my jaw drop whenever that plane crashes, on max settings on the pc at a 1080p resolution, its amazing

I think next engine upgrade for next source game release will be very impressive.

It doesn't have enough bloom for the simpletons who wank themselves silly over the Unreal engine

Game runs really good also better than UT3 and Cryengine 2.
Mid end pc handle it easy peasy.

I agree with the OP - there is simply nothing at all wrong with the visuals on Left 4 Dead. Some of the environments are dank and gloomy, but that is by design. People say the source engine is 4 years old, but as I understand it it is being continually refined. If Valve labelled the latest build as "Source Engine 2" there'd be little or no criticism I think.

I think the L4D visuals are superb. At max settings, they are far better than anything on consoles (with a few exceptions)

People pretty much call anything that isn't bombarded by a half-dozen different shaders crappy these days. Some normal mapping for environment textures might help, but otherwise I think the game looks great.

Who has time to look at the graphics when your being attacked by a 1,000 zombies!

Well I do think the graphics are kinda bad but honestly I don't give a shit, the game is fucking sweet.

The grapics can look a little odd but it is one of the funnest games out!

i don't give a fuck about graphics when i'm looking at a game... physics and gameplay are far more impressive at the end of the day

The game is a blast to play. Nothing wrong with the visuals either, as far as I can tell.

Oh, and the reason for the good animation is Valve likes to hire from the animation and film industries as well. I was talking to Steve McClure (Valve CFO) and he said that the Tank in the intro cutscene of L4D was done by a number of people who had worked on animation in the recent King Kong.

The PC graphics are as good as, usually better than anything out there. I think it's because most reviewers and players who will say the graphics are bad play on 360, where everything is on like the equivalent of Low settings on PC. It looks effing dynamite on PC though with everything turned up to the highest and the AA on. Looks great on consoles too, it's just a given that the PC one will look better.

Most of the people I have heard beating up on L4D's graphics are non-avid gamers who only show up for Halo 3 and COD:WaW LAN parties. That's not saying that all of the people who I've heard complain about the games graphics are like these guys, but most of the complainers I've heard fall somewhere near that category. First of all, the game has awesome graphics, as the forum creator proved. Most of the people who complain about them take a shallow look from across the room and determine quickly that the graphics are bad. I still don't get where in the world so many come up with the complaint of the graphics being bad, but it is definitely a very stupid complaint. If graphics are the main reason you do not like a game, then please quit gaming all together, because there is probably a pretty good chance you do not know what an actual GOOD game is.
