Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 is the second game console produced by Microsoft Corporation and is the successor to the original Xbox.
Will there be a 360 Slim this generation?
I don't see why. With the PS3, the high price tag was the main thing keeping many from making the purchase, something that didn't hinder the 360.
" No. They overheat enough as it is. If they would make a slim one it would break all the time. "Which the curent one already does
" NO!!! Americans like it BIG and Microsoft is straight outa the U.S. of A! :p "Aint that the truth.
Unlikely I'd say. Sony on the other hand has had the tradition of making a smaller version of thier consoles since the PS1 and PS2 and even the PSP since Sony is primarily a Japanese product. Since most Japanese homes (and most asian homes in general) are small in comparision to the West, a smaller console is more convinient. The 360 is primarily found in Western homes so size isn't a big deal really.

Fuck the slim they should pump some steroids into the 360 and make is as big and manly as the original xbox. You could punt that thing down the stairs and it would still work. There would be no more RROD if they bought back that design.
no, i don't think it would happen. sony made the slim for every system they had and xbox 1 doesn't have a slim version. i don't see it happening because they also have a problem with the hard ware that they have.
to the people that are saying the hard drive, they could like make a cable that plugs into the system and hang out to connect the hard drive to. make it so it would fit in with the design also.
The Slim is Sony's thing. There may eventually be a 360 redesign but, it wont be called 360 Slim.
That would be a blatant rip-off of Sony.
" @TheGremp said:Perhaps I should have worded that differently." No, because Microsoft doesn't have that retarded Sony/Nintendo/Apple etc. strategy. They aren't gonna release the same exact electronic, minus a few inches, for a higher price tag. "Sony's releasing the Slim for the same price as the normal one so you fail. "
The reason that the strategy is a rip-off is that it causes many people to buy the same product multiple times. Yes, it's because of the stupid customer who thinks he needs a DS Lite even though he already has a DS, but that's the entire goal of releasing a slim console. Companies like Apple have noticed that people are so easily affected by the size of an electronic that they will pay full price for a smaller version of what they already have. I have several friends who have every generation of every iPod/iTouch/iPhone. Once a new iPod gets released, the old one just goes into the pile with the rest, wasting thousands of dollars.
Wasting thousands of dollars of their money which goes right into the company, hardly a poor business move." @Scooper said:

On the DSi, it's not just a slimmer DS, it has an ap store, camera, brighter/bigger screens ect. so it isn't too wierd that people would buy one if they already own a DS/DSLite, maybe they really enjoy their old launch DS and play it everyday but it's kind of a pain to hold and the screens a bit gloomy, buying a DSi would be a good purchase. The PS3slim on the other hand is just that, a slimmer PS3. I can't see anyone buy fanatics buying a slim if they already own a perfectaly good PS3. I owned the original Playstation but never bought the PS Slim. I owned the PS2 but when I gave it to my sister I bought the PS2 Slim. I don't own a PS3 but I'm looking at buying 1 so if they're the same price I might aswell get the PS3 Slim because it's superior (well to be honest it doesn't look as good).
If people want to buy every 3 different PSPs because they're funny colours or both a PS1, PS2, PS3 and all the slim versions and 4 different versions of the same phone then that's fine by me, it's their money and if that's how they want to spend it then they can go right ahead but these reiterations of the product are aimed at new people looking to buy a console/phone, not to sell more of them to people that already own one.
The 360 is bulky when you compare it to the PS3 slim, PS2, PS2 slim, and Wii. However, it's much, much better than the original Xbox was. Since MS never bothered to reduce the size of the original Xbox, and the 360 is selling very well, I doubt they'll do it with the 360. Given that consoles don't really do much besides sitting on a shelf, there's no real reason for them to shrink it down.
The only possible reason I could see them shrink it down is to get some press in Japan, and possibly move more units there. I have no idea if that'd do anything, given the relative ambivalence of that maketplace. So would it be worth the cost to develop a new unit? Probably not.
No theres no reason.
Sony slims its systems down to give the false preception of it geting better thus netting sales they literally don't have to do it but found that it nets them sales.
" @TheGremp said:and your sure they couldn't have lowered the price EVEN More? or did they slim it down then only lower it a certain amount so as to still retain profit." " @TheGremp said:But those "15" versions are options, not replacements. Have a lot of money and want a lot of space? Go for the Elite. Low on cash? Start out with the Arcade and go up from there. Also, say you have a Pro with a 20GB hard drive. Save up some cash, get a 120GB, and you basically have an elite. No need to buy a whole new system." By the way, officially, there are only 3 long-standing versions of the 360, not 15. All the others are simply decorated Elites that last a few months.
There will not be a slim, no.

said:I'm pretty sure the point of the slim versions are to cut production prices down... you know, so Sony doesn't go bankrupt? And it's cheaper... not the other way around."
