You have reached a scenario that forces you to make this decision, decide!
After reading and thinking about it, yeah I would definitely go with the fine!!!
100,000 in debt is, like, two tours tops. We're there 'till at least 2014 anyway so... bam, debt paid.
Prison, man. (Swedish - or Danish, since thats my nationality)
I would challenge myself and see how many college degrees I could take, how many languages I could learn.
Now that I think about it, maybe I should just rob a bank, send all the money to Greece or Africa, and just get my no responsabilities on and start learning ;)

What happens if you are fined money but can't pay?
Depends. Can face things like having your wages garnished, loss of legal privileges (driver's license, child visitation), etc.. Can even become ineligible for or lose your job in some cases. Certain professions have fiduciary duties as component and inability to pay can knock you out of the running.
The fine. Prison is rough. I'd rather be in debt my whole life and be able to live at least a somewhat normal life.
Anyone who picks prison clearly doesn't realize just how rough prison can be. Not that I've ever lived in one, mind you.
I would defiantly pay the fine, even if I had to sell literally everything to get it.
I would be able to make up the money in 10 years time, and prison is really fucking bad

I've seen OZ. I've been there friend-brother...
I'll take the fine since I don't look scary and tough enough to go through ten years of prison unscathed, and I can at least live a more or less normal (but still shitty) life.
I would take the fine. No way am I wasting 10 years of my life in jail.seriously, how can anybody pick jail over the fine? in those ten years you could win the lottery, invent facebook or meet your significant other who might accidentally be rich. in jail your brain is gonna rot, you'll get depressed, may be physically harmed or get into more trouble than you were in before.

You can only be fined for money/possessions (assets being the technical term) you own. So if they wanted to fine you for 100,000 and you only had an accumulated wealth of 50000 they could only get 50000 off of you.
Or at least that is how it works in England.

Honestly, I can't imagine how anyone could view 10 years in prison as the better option...
This. Fuck that other noise.
Unless you have no friends and family and you make less than 10,000 a year, the fine is the clear choice.

Don't forget the cost of living. At $10,000/yr, you'd have nothing to pay the fine after making even the most basic living expenses. But, yeah, I'd rather just be on the run if I couldn't afford it over going to prison. An innocent person in prison has to be about the most terrifying experience, ever.

fined for sure. Even if you have to declare bankruptcy, its better than being in jail for a decade.
Are we talking 10 year sentence? If so I'd take that. You'd probably get out in 3 years on good behavior if its a nonviolent crime, as opposed to the decades you'd be in debt from a fine
