Xbox Play anywhere codes

Does anyone have any experience getting a code for a play anywhere game and putting it straight into the Windows 10 app store to play it on PC? I don't have an Xbox, but I want to buy a Sea of Thieves digital copy on Amazon. The only platform they have listed is Xbox One. I'm thinking since my account is cross platform the code should be too?

I'm not sure about Sea of Thieves, but I got a code off of an Xbox-branded gift card for Forza Horizon 3 and put it in on the Windows store and activated it. I suggest trying to get in touch with Microsoft Customer Service and asking them about it, they might know.

Technically you can just open the xbox app on windows and redeem it through there without owning an xbox :)

Ok excellent, I think if it worked for another crossplay game like forza it's worth a shot. I didn't think about the Xbox App either, I found the redeem code part in there, thanks!
