now that i've offended native svenska speakers with my very basic knowledge of the language, i'll ask the english-speakers: what's your favorite swedish band?

Hammerfall is a Swedish band right? If that is the case, I say Hammerfall until I remember something better.

Evergrey is awesome. Maybe the most awesome of them all?

Personally, I don't really fancy a whole lot of Swedish bands or artists. There are some songs that I like, but rarely most things by one artist.

Meshuggah. That's as far as my knowledge for Swedish bands go, but still. Thomas Haake is insane.

i like that i haven't heard of most of these bands. 

Refused are probably the best (as in what they did for music and how epically crazy skilled they were), but my favorite is The Tough Alliance.

If you understand the language, Organism 12 is the best artist around (pretty niche hiphop though..)

Meshuggah's constant switching between weird timings just sounds cacophonous to me. Maybe it's the way I'm programmed. I get how it's all technically challenging and stuff, but it just doesn't sound very palatable. Here's where metal nerds call me an idiot without taste, and I respond with how shitty they are as human beings. I have a friend who does electronic music exclusively with similar odd timings and I have the same response. It's kinda like hearing somebody speaking a strange foreign language.  Like I said, maybe it's something in my brain being incapable of locking on to the odd beats, but they do not sound how they were described to me.
 
Opeth's actual metal segments are pretty great. But they're usually so sparse.
