I'm confused when it comes to Destructoid. Just when you think they're posting informative articles and getting along nicely, there'll be a nice, big, fat piece of flamebait just around the corner deliberately placed just to bring the trolls out from under the bridge and of course the viewer clicks.
I actually like a lot of the content Jim writes, though he can be a bit too aggressive when getting his point across. No, he's not a troll, he has an opinion like the rest of you. The rest of the site as a whole is decent as well. Samit should post more of his sports stuff, but he's an enjoyable read. Same goes for Jonathan Holmes and his Nintendo coverage. The community is eh...they seem too much like a clique in high school who only lets certain people that conform to their views in. At least Giant Bomb is more open arms to new members.
I'm not a fan of the sensationalism Sterling tries to stir up, or when he tries to be "pissed off guy" on camera, but I do really like his reviews a lot.

Well said. Jim, more often than not, makes some really good points no matter what he does. I don't think he's God's gift to gaming 'journalism' or anything, but he does his job well.
I don't really understand much of the hate they get, as I feel most of the content they put out is well done, but that's just me.
I might have to disagree with you on the whole community thing. I can't speak for everyone there, but a lot of the community members are extremely cool. There are obviously a few bad seeds here and there, but that's to be expected. The Giant Bomb community is no different.
I use to visit Destructoid regular, and listening to Podtoid weekly. I liked the "casual" environment they had at the site. But after a year or two of visiting there, I just got sick of it. The big difference between Giant Bomb's casual and Destructoid's casual, is that GB knows how to act with a certain level of professionalism at the same time. Dtoid just acts like a punch of little kids and trolls. You go to GB for a news article, and the headline would be something along the lines of "Kratos officially in Mortal Kombat for PS3", but an article in Dtoid on the same subject would be titled "Kratos in MK! OMG JIZZ!!!!" which just makes them look immature. Also, Podtoid is a train wreck. I thought it was funny at first, how they would make fun of each other, but week after week, they would practically bully the same guy for liking sports games, yet everyone else on the cast are all 1-dimensional characters as well who always had the same responses, and they would eventually talk about how amazing Half Life 2 is, and praise how Valve are the best developers ever. It just got sickening. And the worst of them is Jim Sterling. He has all this little fanboys all because he says the c-word, and he would make obvious troll article and obvious troll reviews. What did he give Assassin's Creed 2? Something like a 4.5? It was obvious flame bait and their site got tons of hits due to it. And don't try to justify his review score, because he gave Dynasty Warriors an 8.5. I fully agree with Jeff's philosophy on game reviews. They should be factual, like reviewing a car, describe what the game is about and how well it runs. Dtoid's review were all opinion based and biased.
Not a terribly bad site. I just don't venture there or care whatever controversial points Jim Sterling brings up in his trolls and when Giantbomb users take the bait and start screaming from the top of their lungs.
I only go to Giantbomb so I don't even know what Destructoid is. The only other website I go to just to see the headlines, because their articles and opinions are god awful, is ign.
I searched for Vanquish review and found this site, with Jim Sterling. After that I kept reading his reviews just to see the comments. SO I guess trolls paradise?
