Basically just want to know which registrar I should use? I have a feeling that it doesn't matter too much, but I don't know, maybe it's a pivitol decision. Any help is much appreciated.
First time domain name register. Help!
I don't have an answer for you since I don't really have current experience with this (though I'm pretty sure you should not use GoDaddy).
But it's probably relevant whether you need hosting or not; many registrars package this together with a domain registration, and depending on whether you need it or want to support a site that's already hosted somewhere, the best choice may differ.
Probably people would also want to know how technical you are willing to get; some registrars are more self-serve (which also generally means more flexible) than others.
Use Hover. They have a pretty good UI, which is a shocking rarity for domain registrars, solid domain tools and great support.
@marshermallow: It really depends on which features you require.
What TLD? Certs? Current hosting requirements? Need extra tools / customer service? Price concerns? As @conmulligan said, hover is fine. There are lots of good options out there depending on your requirements.
