Odd Future is a rap collective from L.A that has been picking up a lot of steam lately, due to their coverage on MTV and Kanye West's Twitter posts.
They self-produce all of their music and have all of their albums for free that you can find over at their tumblr.
As for what they rap about, well, that's a little complicated. A lot of people have labeled them horrocore, which I guess is sort of accurate, but they really are deeper. On the head member of the band, Tyler The Creator's album, he kind of raps from the perspective of a serial killer/rapist, which while providing some very unsettling imagery also deals with the psychosis of it all. I'll admit I was a little cautious when getting into them because of the immediate comparisons that they draw to ICP, mainly because of the unearned Horrorcore title, but really, those comparisons are bullshit.
I think they are some of the freshest music in the hip-hop scene coming out these days, and their seeming lack of taboos proves this. But, they are a very divisive collective, you're either into them or you hate them, basically. So which side does the overall Giant Bomb community fall under?
