I think there's a long queue of people who'd like to 'chat' with the podcast duders. They'd be overwhelmed if they started letting us do that on a regular basis, I guess. I've followed Jeff since back in the Points Report days at Gamespot and once or twice dropped him a PM. Never got an answer though, I mean the dude is busy and has real life friends and stuff.
Podcasts cause a kinda reality distortion field making you feel overfamiliar with people you really don't know, so I think sometimes our emails, PMs and tweets gushing with fanboy love can be a bit much.
That said, you could always try getting twitter blocked by Ryan; he likes blocking people I think. Moreover, supporting this site is the best way to show that you appreciate Jeff and Co.

Nobody on here is that special Giant Bomb staff included. They are just dudes that play video games and write articles about them, just like you and I. Nothing celebrity about it all really.
You know, now that I think about it, they were all in the same position, nobodies outside of this huge boys club of entertainment, I wonder how you crack a break into it? You know, get to meet the whose who etc.
Not saying i talk to them everyday. But if you send them a pm,write on a wall, or just ask questions during events you will get yours. Come on they are people just like us. Would want to talk to strangers every second of the day?

Ryan Davis has ten thousand twitter followers. Ten Thousand. He is on a first name basis with a crapton of game dev celebs. Dude he is very much more fantastic than you or me.

I was talking about the guy from the Matrix Online. But yeah, Bodega and Lemon were both just users that became interns. I think Ethan made a post about internships available.

Heh, nah man, im just arguing the state of celebrity and personal exclusivity on the internet. Sure im a huge fan of the bombcast, would be awesome to interact with the staff though. I guess it is awesome that we enjoy an industry where actually interacting with the guys who produce your favorite games and websites is very possible! I guess im also reflecting negatively at how little I mean to the games industry, apart from being cash/clickthrough producing livestock.

That is so true, and also the earlier mentioned point that you bridge a fake personal barrier when listening to the podcast. Maybe we should start a podcast? It seems like an incredibly effective and easily digested medium! If we keep hammering our first and last names, we could slowly build a following?
PM's, tweets, formspring, email - there are plenty of ways to get in touch with the Giant Bomb crew. But they're in high demand and a lot of people contact them via all of these methods, so you won't always get a response. Of course, if you're doing interesting things make you that stand out from the crowd, they'll respond.
@astromanz: Then start working hard and try and break into the game industry/journalism. What are you expecting Jeff Gerstman or Gabe Newell to drop by your house with a pizza and an Xbox controller saying "Hey man let's play some Modern Warfare!"? Any industry is going to look at you in that way because you're a consumer, it's no different for Wal-Mart, or McDonalds, or Trojan Condoms.
@astromanz: If you want to get involved in the video game industry it's probably pretty straight forward to do so, just take a course or try to learn as much about what area you want to get into and go from there. Doubt you'll become an internet celebrity from doing so but you can at least contribute to gaming in some way.

A journalism degree certainly plays a big part, but building up contacts in the industry & a good portfolio of work can be just as important. There are a lot of people with proven records in the game journalism industry that struggle to find regular, solid work. It's a highly competitive field that is hard to get into.
