How do you chat with the dudes on the podcast, like Jeff, or Ryan and those guys?
How do you meet the guys on the podcast?
" How do you chat with the dudes on the podcast, like Jeff, or Ryan and those guys? "You could just tweet them and hope. Write and email. Ask question in the chat during TNT and the live show.
Nope." Isn't there a paid member exclusive chat room or something? "
There is a public one thats on during TNT and special events.
And the guys are a bit busy to just chat with forum people.
" @astromanz said:The chat is for everyone I think. And is up during events." Isn't there a paid member exclusive chat room or something? "Yup, but there isn't one for the podcast. Send em a mail for that "

" Sigh, im tired of being just a "forum people". "You all ways will be one dude. We are just the users. They get to talk to people like Patch and devs.
" @The_Laughing_Man: They only seem to tweet other celebrities, I dont think that would work. "I got Ryan to tell me to
fuck my sarcasm once.
Ana from also talks to me a bit.
Also Jeff has been using formspring for a while. Great place to ask any questions you might be wondering.

I think there's a long queue of people who'd like to 'chat' with the podcast duders. They'd be overwhelmed if they started letting us do that on a regular basis, I guess. I've followed Jeff since back in the Points Report days at Gamespot and once or twice dropped him a PM. Never got an answer though, I mean the dude is busy and has real life friends and stuff.
Podcasts cause a kinda reality distortion field making you feel overfamiliar with people you really don't know, so I think sometimes our emails, PMs and tweets gushing with fanboy love can be a bit much.
That said, you could always try getting twitter blocked by Ryan; he likes blocking people I think. Moreover, supporting this site is the best way to show that you appreciate Jeff and Co.
" So basically if you arent making games yourself, its all just one gigantic popularity contest? "What did you expect? No offense but none of us are that special. Plus im sure they get hundreds of tweets a day.

Get a rifle, and watch them through the site outside their office. Make sure you do this in an easily visible area, where a lot of people can see you.

So any of you guys ever just thought to go for it and start up a site or start making a game? It seems exiting watching the industry from the user window.
" I met them at California Extreme last year and that was pretty neat. "@astromanz said:

You know, now that I think about it, they were all in the same position, nobodies outside of this huge boys club of entertainment, I wonder how you crack a break into it? You know, get to meet the whose who etc.
Not saying i talk to them everyday. But if you send them a pm,write on a wall, or just ask questions during events you will get yours. Come on they are people just like us. Would want to talk to strangers every second of the day?
" Nobody on here is that special Giant Bomb staff included. They are just dudes that play video games and write articles about them, just like you and I. Nothing celebrity about it all really. "Ryan Davis has ten thousand twitter followers. Ten Thousand. He is on a first name basis with a crapton of game dev celebs. Dude he is very much more fantastic than you or me.

Do you guys think they got to this state of recognition because they keep repeating their first and last names on the podcasts?

That is so true, and also the earlier mentioned point that you bridge a fake personal barrier when listening to the podcast. Maybe we should start a podcast? It seems like an incredibly effective and easily digested medium! If we keep hammering our first and last names, we could slowly build a following?" ALL THEIR GLORY WILL BE YOURS IF YOU JUST...CONSUME THEM! "
PM's, tweets, formspring, email - there are plenty of ways to get in touch with the Giant Bomb crew. But they're in high demand and a lot of people contact them via all of these methods, so you won't always get a response. Of course, if you're doing interesting things make you that stand out from the crowd, they'll respond.

How do you really get into proper Games journalism, is it a boysclub, or do you actually go and get a Journalism Degree and join up with a brand?
" How do you really get into proper Games journalism, is it a boysclub, or do you actually go and get a Journalism Degree and join up with a brand? "A journalism degree certainly plays a big part, but building up contacts in the industry & a good portfolio of work can be just as important. There are a lot of people with proven records in the game journalism industry that struggle to find regular, solid work. It's a highly competitive field that is hard to get into.
" Or once a year, go to a PAX event when they have their panel, and try to meet them there without being a total creepster. "It would literally be cheaper for me to earn a Journalism degree, become acknowledged in the community, and meet them then.
