that first left cross was fast and hard. its like they say, and old boxers punch is always the last thing to go. not to say this man was actually a boxer or anything, but he still definitely had his punch. 

Without fully knowing what happened previous to the incident, I can't pass judgment. However, I do not support the bearded man, the young man, nor the crowd encouraging the fight. 
 
 
 
 
I watched the video again with the subtitles and it seems that the bearded man uttered some phrases that the young man could have misinterpreted and taken great offense to. Nevertheless, physically confronting the psychopathic ex-Vietnam veteran is a terrible idea.

Public transportation is gettin' serious here in the Bay Area. Looks like I gotta start watchin' my back when I take BART. 
 
Also, watching that video all I could think about was how much the white guy sounded like Jeffrey Ross.

The problem is, the white guy went to the other end of the bus to PREVENT further conflict, not because the view was fucking better. It would still count as the black guy's fault - he should be smarter than that and just don't move, he talked him off already, it was enough. But no, he HAD to go there and prove how much of a man he is. Also, he was making threats after getting the shit beaten out of him and was heckling him afterwards, which totally proves that he's a moron. 

The people on the bus were fighting a bit of racism with racism, calling him pinky and chanting to kick his white ass, but later on the older woman seemed to tell the black guy to chill.

The Man With A Beard is probably some frustrated person, as he got tased for aggresive behaviour while being drunk on an Oakland match and his actions were pretty aggressive after getting out of the bus, but that still a) does not steal this video of its epicness and b) still makes the black man the moron in this video, and there's nothing racial about it.

Another passenger makes remarks. The white man moves to the front of the bus as the two exchange threats to whoop each other’s asses.

White man: You won’t do nothin’ to me! [then something unintelligible]
Black man: Say it again! [then something unintelligible as woman who was filming talks over him]
Iyanna Washington: Say it again! Say it again, Pinky!

The black man begins walking to the front of the bus.

Someone off camera whom many allege is Iyanna Washington: Beat his white ass! Whoop his ass!
Another passenger: Leave him alone!

The two men seem to be speaking to one another at the front of the bus, but cannot be heard over the noise from the rest of the passengers.

Iyanna Washington: It ain’t worth it, blood, it ain’t worth it.

The black man begins walking back to his seat as other passengers continue to comment.

Black man: I’d put my foot up your ass.
White man: I see tough guys like you and I slap the shit out of them.
Black man: What?!
Another passenger: Stop it!

The black man walks to the front again to continue the confrontation.

At 1:40, the black guy lunges at the white guy, appearing to either shove or strike him in the chest, but the blow is mostly deflected by the white guy’s arm.

The white man stands up and punches him in the face repeatedly. At least 9 punches can be seen, then the camera moves too much to get a clear view.
At 1:51 the black man can be seen shielding his face.

White man: Don’t fuck with me! He hit me! He fuckin’ hit me!

As can be seen earlier in the video, the black man attempted to shove him, but did not hit him.
The old white man exits the bus.

White man: He fuckin’ hit me first! He hit me in the face! [unintelligible] – self defense!

Iyanna: Open that shit! laughs

Various passengers comment on what they’ve witnessed.

Iyanna: We can press charges, blood. I got in on videotape. He’s leakin’.
Black man: That motherfucker hit me. No no no no no.
Another passenger: Did he break your teeth?
Black man: No. Bring an ambulance.

The tone of many comments on the various videos, image macros, and forum threads aim to portray Epic Beard Man as some sort of a hero, standing up against the racial oppression of white people.
This is an obvious farce constructed to cause rage in those who would take it seriously. Epic Beard Man exhibits behaviors showing that he instigated the confrontation.

By asking for a shoe-shine, he is basically casting the black man as a servant; obviously inciting further conflict. It should also be noted that he was not the only one engaging in racism, as others on the bus can be heard saying “beat his white ass” and referring to him as “pinky.”

I have to say that even though Epic B is a little nuts, in this situation he did the right thing, he moved away from the guy, the other dude followed, and got popped in the face.
