What is the one band that you listen to that no one else seems to know about? Mine is a metal band called Cage which combines power and thrash metal and is pretty awesome. They just put out a new album which Im loving and I feel awesome for knowing about them when very few people do.
Most obscure band you know about?
" Awesomeness, especially if you are from or have been to Newfoundland (NEW-FIN-LAND)This is terrible haha"
There's a band called "Impending Doom", they are a christian death metal band (no joke). As first I laughed but actually if you dig death metal or grindcore music, they're not that bad.
Here's their single "Nailed. Dead. Risen". And no I haven't got a fucking clue what the lyrics are either.
surprisingly enough, I've actually heard of this band. a friend of mine whose into death metal told me about them and i too laughed.
Lately I've been listen to a band called "Pavor" which is an unsigned technical death metal band from Germany, for the most part I'm not really into death metal but there's something different about this particular band.
A lot of you probably wont like the vocals but I recommend you listen to the whole song regardless.
Loved 'em, and My Ass is On Fire is probably my fave tune - the bit in the middle where the syncopated drums kick in and the siren sounds is skill. But if you want super obscure, you should check out the myriad side projects all the members of Mr B got into (some good, some terrible). I assume you've caught up with Secret Chiefs 3? It's one of the more commercial and palatable bands to come from that crew." Mr Bungle, and they had good reason for not being so well known since there constant switching of genres mid-song was far from mainstream. ''My ass is on fire'' so memorably insane xP "
EDIT: Oh, and a couple of (sadly defunct) bands I loved were a couple of Aussie units, ScaryMother and Pulling Face. Both only released one album before vanishing, but what albums they were.
Eerr nope, I only came across Mr Bungle like 4 years back when I was just doing some casual research into the beast that is Mike Patton. So not really versed in the group itself all that much....besides having all the albums downloaded i mean xD
And cheerz for the recommendations i'll definatley give them a listen.
Most obscure I know is probably Van Canto, a strange band that only uses vocals and drums to cover metal songs; it's odd and doesn't usually turn out very well but it's interesting to hear how they do it and often quite comical.
Embedding disabled but their cover of Metallica's Battery.

"
The Nightjars, Ok and Soul Coughing. And all the ones you've listed guys. Because I just learned them now!
EDIT: Strangely no one I know seems to know who Gary Numan is, which is odd.
" @Mr_JPeps: Dude that's awesome!!!! Local band? "Robert Ashley's Band. That whole album is epic. Especially the songs written and sung by Ashley himself.
I always feel I am not being obscure enough with music, but here I go:
The Red House Painters
I pick them because, well... I figured that they didn't sell too many CDs when they were around, but enough to warrant reissues a few years back.
When I purchased their self-titled cd, the one that has a rollercoaster (aka rollercoaster album), I had to order it from a specialty shop when it went discontinued.
My favourite song by him is probably Down in the Park live version. Gotta love that synth!
They're a tech/prog (often baroque sounding) death metal band from France. Currently my favorite in the scene; albeit a little more variety per-song would have absolutely helped . Not saying that being slapped in the face for four minutes isn't nice; but being face-slapped, kicked in the nuts, having ones head slammed in a car door, and then curb-stomped within the same timeframe is a much better scenario. Guy on right is composer.
And Blotted Science (an instrumental "extreme-tech" metal band) and its prodigy Ron Jarzombek still seem fairly unknown even in the metal scene. Better videos are available; lead guitarist is Ron.
Music composed by a single person tends to sound more cohesive than group projects.
As a Texan, I love Southern groove metal such as Pantera. If you have any similar suggestions, please don't hesitate to float a few my way. Please no Lamb of God, thanks.
I'd say Orange orange

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones I suppose, out of everything I listen to, very few people ever recognize them.
