Need help remembering a word.

What do you call a person when it seems like he or she is trying to have a different opinion than what most people accept in an attempt to try to be "cool and different"?

There's a specific word I'm looking for but can't seem to remember what it is. Then again, I might just be going crazy.

I've seen people ask "What game is this?"

I've seen people ask "What movie is this?"

Hell, I've even seen people ask "What song is this?" and only give half a verse to go on.

But I have never seen someone ask "What word is this?"

Not that it's a bad thing, it's just something I haven't ever seen on the internet outside of Yahoo! Answers, and the less mentioned of there, the better.
