Hey guys just need some help in picking a monitor. So I'm looking between a LG 27MP38VQ and HP T3M74AA because budget is pretty tight for me right now. But I will accept better suggestions if any, thanks!

I mean, the LG has better response time, refresh rate, and size. I'd go with that one off those specs but I haven't seen how the blur comparison is either. I just personally wouldn't want a 23inch monitor. Seems small.

@flashflood_29: it's going to go in a small room which is why I don't want it too big a size

Do you need it right now? Might be better to save up more money if you dont absolutely need it. Another $100 could get you a pretty nice, moderately sized monitor. Are you gaming on it?

@opusofthemagnum: yes it is going to mostly be used for gaming. As for having it right now I do, unless you have a better suggestion.

Is there any reason you want these two in particular? Are you just trying to ditch some decrepit CRT or setting up a new PC in a small room? It's mostly for gaming what graphics card do you have? If you have AMD you can pick up freesync monitors in this price range and adaptive refresh is fantastic. An above poster says that he'd go for the LG and he's right its the more obvious "gaming" monitor but the Dell is IPS and is going to have better colors. If you're just on a budget there are a ton of cheaper 23-24 inch 1080p displays out there, both fast response time TN panels and slow but better color IPS. There are even ultra-wide options in your price range! You can find great monitors all day but you gotta consider what YOU WANT because at this price range you're gonna make sacrifices.

Honestly though if you're just getting a 1080p 24 inch on a budget I'd say save yourself $50 and get one of these.

for color https://www.amazon.com/Acer-R240HY-bidx-23-8-Inch-Widescreen/dp/B0148NNKTC/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1492838982&sr=1-1&keywords=Asus+H236HL

for speed https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-GL2460HM-24-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00IKDFL4O/ref=sr_1_1?tag=amazon0606-20&ie=UTF8&qid=1430267968&sr=8-1&keywords=BenQ+GL2460HM

if you have AMD graphics and are willing to go off brand and want speed https://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-VX2457-MHD-FreeSync-Monitor-DisplayPort/dp/B018MYTH9U/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1492838563&sr=1-4&keywords=freesync The 27 inch model is $20 more but 1080p at 27 inches doesn't sit well with some people.

I gotta throw this in for the novelty though https://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-25UM57-25-Inch-LED-lit/dp/B00V8FAWC2/ref=sr_1_1?tag=amazon0606-20&ie=UTF8&qid=1436161649&sr=8-1&keywords=LG+25UM57 :3

@surplus_ninja: running nvidia card with my PC. The monitor I'm replacing is a 2010 HP LCD monitor. I mostly do light gaming on my PC like overwatch since I mostly game on my ps4. Budget wise I want to spend less than three hundred dollars

Well then, my tilt would say get this https://www.amazon.com/Acer-GN246HL-Bbid-24-Inch-Display/dp/B00KO4518I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492840801&sr=8-1&keywords=Acer+Predator+Z271T This is high refresh rate low latency so its perfect for a game you want to be a tryhard in like Overwatch and Overwatch is easy to run and its only 1080p so you should be able to push high enough frame rate to take advantage of a higher than 60hz monitor.
