Recently we've seen so many games being remade and polished. Goldeneye,Ocarina of Time, DK Country, and Halo: CE to come in the near future.
So question is, what other games would you like to see be remade?
For me, I wouldn't mind seeing the old Spiderman game that was made for N64 (maybe PS1 but I never owned one so wouldn't know)
Even an XBLA/PSN version of Rampage would be nice.
Other games that should be remade
there is already rampage on the PSN store. not sure if it's any good, but it exists.Oh, I only own 360, guess thats apparent now
Egh games should just be left alone this whole remake thing is getting old.Remakes, be it movies or games end up into two categories.
1) Same with improved graphics (or in movies special effects)
2) Shit
There was an old game for the Sega Master System called Dead Angle. It was a shooter where you're a private detective taking on the mob in the 1940's. You go from New York to Chicago and a few more cities (can't remember all of them) looking for your kidnapped shweetheart. You take on all these crime families and finally take on "The Boss" in his highrise apartment. You destroy his bulletproof glass and shoot him in his boss face while he's holding your girlfriend hostage. Then he flies out the window.
Cliched but back then it was amazing. Give me an action heavy 3rd person shooter with rough interrogation sequences (think The Punisher mixed with some L.A Noire) and car chases; then throw in some real 40's slang a la Maltese Falcon and I would have a joygasm of fabled proportions.
Never happen but a man can dream.
Yes, though I think they shouldn't touch it too hard. Just increase the number of polygons in character models, uprez backgrounds, use the PC translation, and use the full symphonic arrangement of the music. I've read some convincing arguments about how the sillier parts of the game won't work well if you get all up close and personal like an FFX-onwards. So keep the distant old-school perspective and it should all work out.
Are we talking about just a graphical remake/upgrade or a remake that adds or changes bits of the formula?
Oh, remake Dungeon Keeper, for goodness sake!
@Titus: When I think back to when I found that Dungeon Keeper 3 teaser in Dungeon Keeper 2 I was so excited to find out there was more coming, I mean it looked like they were going to let you out onto the surface! God, fuck you EA for crushing my dreams forever. Poor Bullfrog... *sniff*
As I always say in this thread: Jurassic Park: Trespasser
What is the point of remaking a game that is still good? I would rather see good ideas from poor games get the time they deserve.
I'd like to see some reboots and re-imaginings, but fewer remakes. For instance, a new Star Wars piloting game. I don't want to see TIE Fighter or whatever just remade. I'd like to see some effort put into making a new game based on the old game, with a nice fusion of what made the original game great combined with some modern flair.
This is probably asking for too much, though, as remakes are generally made just for some quick nostalgia-based cash grabs.
Vagrant Story gets my vote, as well. I'd take a full on graphical remake or a sequel. That game was so great and had so much promise to spawn a great franchise. :(
After that, I'd just like to see more games like some of the old ones I used to play and still do break out on occasion: Metal Marines (SNES), Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen (SNES/PSX), and Crystalis (NES). Bastion looks like it's similar to Crystalis's play type, so that's promising at least.

Correct answer. Remakes should only be done with good and unique games. If you want a Dungeon Keeper you have to play Dungeon Keeper and it's getting pretty old.
Oh, remake Dungeon Keeper, for goodness sake! This a thousand times.

Daggerfall
If you are serious I would like to know why. I Loved Daggerfall back in the day but it really has no qualities that haven't been done much much better since.
I will always believe that developers need to completely redo a games graphics and mechanics from the ground up. I am not meaning add new techniques, or changing dramatic pieces of the game. I am simply saying add more than a couple of polygons and tightening of the controls. Ocarina of time really feels like a great example for this and if we could see more games getting the (hopefully) good treatment Halo: CEA is getting, then oldies becoming newies would make my day.
Just because I fucking love the Elder Scrolls games and if they updated it with the Creation Engine and maybe some other small stuff I would have endless fun with it just because of the millions of hours I could put exploring and jacking-off in a map that big.@DillonWerner said:
