Peter Steele has passed away (?)

Mistress Juliya of Fuse TV wrote on her Twitter page earlier tonight that she spoke to TYPE O NEGATIVE guitarist Kenny Hickey just before midnight New York time, and that Kenny confirmed that the rumors were true.

I'm sad if this is true. They pulled a prank in 2005, but I don't think they're joking this time. We'll see. If this is a joke then it's a pretty bad one.

edit: Steele's death has been confirmed by the band. RIP

I thought he was more popular than this. I was under the impression that Black No 1 and My Girlfriend's Girlfriend were considered Heavy Metal classics of the 90's and could constantly hear I Don't Wanna Be Me on air when Life is Killing Me was released.

wow, I knew these guys. I lived in the same area of Brooklyn NY that pete used to collect garbage in before, and after, type O hit big. He was the only dude I knew with a platinum record and had to return to being a sanitation worker because he mismanaged his money so bad.
