I know there's a lot of UK-ers out there in the GB community so I thought I'd make a thread in anticipation of tomorrow's results day.
In this thread you can post your predictions, results, subjects, potential university placements and all that other stuff.
I'll start it off, My worst case scenario is Media: B ICT: C Sociology: C and my best case scenario is Media: A ICT: B Sociology: A.
I need ABB to get into Manchester Uni (my first choice) and BBC to get into York (my insurance choice).
Good luck to everyone out there (Year 12s are allowed to post too!)

I'm hoping for 4 A's (in AS', not A2s). that;s what I'm predicted, anyway, but damn son, maths is hard. Doubt I'll've got more then a B in that, and English and History seem to depend more on whether the examiner is in a good enough mood to accept your opinion on the day he marks your exam so anything goes with that. My 4th subject is computing, pretty sure I got an A in that.

" Sweet, just got my results back. I got 4 A's in AS. This is good right? "You live in Japan and teach English...what?
**Update**
I'm not going to be able to go to Manchester this year. I will be able to go to York though!!!!!! :) York is actually technically quite a bit better than Manc, but wow, York! Haven't got my grades yet (you know wether you have been succesful getting in before you get your grades) but I'm stoked. It is pretty scary that I won't know anyone in town, are there any Giant Bombers I can meet up with for a pint/gaming session.
Matt
Thanks dude. If you live in the Bay Area, I'll be there next week! Although I won't be able to buy any beer because I'm not 21 :( lol
" i just got into Leeds Uni (first choice) to study law :D i dunno my grades yet but UCAS says ive got into leeds for definate! i'm so relieved. Well done to everyone else who got what they want. "Well done!!!!! I'll be just up the road from you in York :)
Woooo!!
" @MatthewMeadows: woo! nice one. I've been listening to Chris Moyles all morning, its been nerveracking! Or however you spell it. York's a solid uni! Very tough to get in. I'll take you up on that pint and gaming session one day! "I'm not gonna promise anything...but I'll try and organise a Giant Bomb Yorkshire meet-up. The Northerners are still a threat!!!!
crap forgot to wake up to get them
just me or was that maths c2 test HARD? wonder if grade boundries were lowered?
Well done to everyone who got the grades they wanted - or at least enough to get in to Uni!
And if you didn't - relax and refocus. It really isn't the end of the world, there is always some other way :)
Now get lurnnin gud!
I got:
Sociology: A
ICT: D
Media: B
Was 10 marks off an A in Media and 2 marks off a C in ICT. If I would have got those extra marks I'd be going to Manchester - but 1000+ people applied for my course and there are only 60 odd places so anything less than the minimum wouldn't get you in. Fucking recession. Still, York University is the 11th best Uni in the country (according to the Times guide) and the 5th best for my course.
I'm pretty happy with my results and hope to see some Yorkshire-Giant Bombers next year!
" Can someone please explain to me how grades work in the UK? In the States it's just A-F...much similar. "A = Amazing
B = Great
C = Good
D = Not so bad
E = Bad
U = Very Bad
There are a few other things like S or L or stuff like that but that's all techincal stuff like "Didn't turn up" or "Illness during exam" or something like that.
" @MatthewMeadows: ...so what is the average? What do I need to get a decent job? "I don't know what the average is really. Over here we don't really just look at college grades for jobs; but it would be advisable to aim for a C or above to get a good job.
Needed AAB to get into Bristol to do Physics.
Got AAA.
Fuck. Yes.

C = Meh
D = Not so good

U = You shouldn't have taken this subject in the first place, or you didn't even do the paper.
25% of people get an A. I doubt that 25% of people doing A-Levels are amazing.
" I got ABC, I needed BBB to get into Warwick for biology, but the C (NEARLY B) was in biology so they rejected me. Got into Birmingham though, for the same course! Now im off to town to get fucking smashed. "When you're living in brum I'll buy you a celebratory pint :D
Well done everyone!
