I was bouncing around the internet when I noticed this ad. Is it just me, or is this picture part of the underlying code of the internet or something? Those two people must be absolutely rolling in dosh, because those pictures have been on my various monitors for as long as I have been on the internet. I'm not sure if there is a question here but...christ, would somebody just send this ad to the End of Ze F***ing World!?!?! (Alaska can come too)
The internet's oldest advertisement
" @Kyreo said:This wut is wut is true." @PS3RG said:this is wut is wut "" This is thread is true. "wut "
" So am I the only one who uses adblock? "Ads pay for websites, I prefer to be defiant and just not click on the ads. I guess it doesn't matter, but I feel like I'm helping.
" Yeah, I remember that ad. I still see it on occasion. That shit cannot be real, that shit must be real.
And here's the internet's oldest profession.
"
" So am I the only one who was on the internet before 2005? "Its older than that. I'm positive, I have been seeing it since I started surfing int he early 00's. Even then I wondered why people would want to meet their old classmates...nyah to Facebook.
" @nintendoeats: It's real, but pretty unbelievable. Did you read it? 124 FUCKING LINES! "Is that as in telephone lines, or image resolution?
" @PrivateIronTFU said:I'm pretty sure it's telephone lines, but it's funnier if we pretend they mean resolution." @nintendoeats: It's real, but pretty unbelievable. Did you read it? 124 FUCKING LINES! "Is that as in telephone lines, or image resolution? "
I think you cropped that picture, since the rest says, "Who would fuck these people?" The rollover says, "They'd fuck each other."
" @PrivateIronTFU said:I bet my collection of adult GIFS is larger." Yeah, I remember that ad. I still see it on occasion. That shit cannot be real, that shit must be real. "
And here's the internet's oldest profession.

I remember the pop-up ads that tried to fool stupid people by including fake Windows bars at the top so they'd click on the ad when they clicked the X button.
I never really knew what they were trying to accomplish with that, actually, since they still don't care about your product, and now they're very mildly irritated and closing your window right away anyway.
I think the oldest ad should appear as an ad on Guinness World Records website, and if you click on it it'll take you to the record page :p

This article pegs the add at around 2003. So more like 2 years off.

And this one seems to indicate that in 2002 Classmates.com was using Text based adds.
Just saying.
But this is way less interesting now that I know they are actually married.
