I love it. As someone who has acted and takes drama courses (and is pretty eccentric himself), I can't see how I could NOT love it. I saw it when I was young -- my parents forced me to watch it -- and I hated it; but I've seriously grown to appreciate it, especially Tim Curry's performance.

It's OK and silly as a movie.  From what my friends have told me, it's much better live.  It's an instance where I'll consider myself as one of those that just doesn't get it's overall praises.

I think it's great, but not enough to dress up and spew an inane alternate script at. I've seen it a heap of times, though, and it's never old for me. Yay Meatloaf.

Picture Show is good.

Live it is infinitely better - while it's hard to top Tim Curry's performance, there's just far more energy in a live stage production.

I saw a tape of Tim Curry during the original '73 broadway run. It was great.

I guess I'll be the outcast and say I really, really hated it.
To me it seemed like it was that one kid at school who tried to be weird to make him/herself stand out, and just became really annoying instead.

Classic Insanity,
I'd put it right up there with Heavy Metal, Evil Dead & The Wall
for my favorite Cult Classics

All I know about it is that there are way too many questions about it in 1 vs 100.

I love it!  Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Meatloaf and Bruce Boxleitner (TRON!) in the campest, funniest musical tribute to 60s scifi schlock ever!!  Oh yeah and it was written and composed by an Aussie. OI OI OI!!

As a sit down and enjoy movie it's just okay, but if you go see it in a theater at a midnight showing were the audience in participating, it's a "brilliant" experience.  Between high school and college, I saw it this way probably 50 times.  It was a fun evening's entertainment for myself and my friends.  Dancing the time warp, saying the audience replies in unison, tossing toast and toilet paper is all part of what makes it an interactive experience that's unique from even the hyper-3d stuff Hollywood is releasing today. I can't watch it for more than 5 or 10 minutes on TV these days because I feel something is missing when I do.  A midnight matinee with a crowd of folks who know the script is the way to go 100% of the time.

@Bruce: At our uptown theater they do midnight showings during the Halloween season. It's just as you would imagine it. Lots of makeup and waaay too many people in fishnets that shouldn't be, but thats what makes it special. And yes there are still the cues and everyone still brings party hats and rice to the movie. Probably the most fun I ever had going to a show. Also the theater has a stage so people get up there and act out the scenes along with the movie. Seriously awesome.

It's one of my absolute favorites.

If you enjoyed Rocky Horror, you might also really like Repo! The Genetic Opera.

Just try to avoid some it's fans, they're even worse than Rocky Horror's.

I am proud of the Giant Bomb community for not touching this statement. You're all terribly polite and mature, and that's to be applauded.

It depends on where you go.  I listen to a podcast called Orange Lounge Radio and one of the hosts is still involved in that type of production.  He lives in Northern California so I know someone somewhere is still doing it.  I had my adventures with it 20 years ago, so I'm certain things have changed where I went.

Yeah, I also watched it when I was real little. Saw it a couple days ago and thought it was good. I hear some kids that talk about all these creepy-as-fuck little shows where a couple less-than-intelligent dropouts perform the show. There's also apparently some disturbing audience participation crap. I don't know about all that, but the movie itself is good.

I'm actually trying to learn Sweet Transvestite. Damn Tim Curry and his odd pronunciations!
