its pretty great
The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Your thoughts?
I love it. As someone who has acted and takes drama courses (and is pretty eccentric himself), I can't see how I could NOT love it. I saw it when I was young -- my parents forced me to watch it -- and I hated it; but I've seriously grown to appreciate it, especially Tim Curry's performance.
I guess I'll be the outcast and say I really, really hated it.
To me it seemed like it was that one kid at school who tried to be weird to make him/herself stand out, and just became really annoying instead.
I love it! Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Meatloaf and Bruce Boxleitner (TRON!) in the campest, funniest musical tribute to 60s scifi schlock ever!! Oh yeah and it was written and composed by an Aussie. OI OI OI!!
As a sit down and enjoy movie it's just okay, but if you go see it in a theater at a midnight showing were the audience in participating, it's a "brilliant" experience. Between high school and college, I saw it this way probably 50 times. It was a fun evening's entertainment for myself and my friends. Dancing the time warp, saying the audience replies in unison, tossing toast and toilet paper is all part of what makes it an interactive experience that's unique from even the hyper-3d stuff Hollywood is releasing today. I can't watch it for more than 5 or 10 minutes on TV these days because I feel something is missing when I do. A midnight matinee with a crowd of folks who know the script is the way to go 100% of the time.
" I cant stand it. I find nothing about it entertaining. "Meatloaf, dude. Meat-effing-loaf.

" My mom loves it. "I am proud of the Giant Bomb community for not touching this statement. You're all terribly polite and mature, and that's to be applauded.
" @PenguinDust: Do they still do those showings with the crowd participation? "It depends on where you go. I listen to a podcast called Orange Lounge Radio and one of the hosts is still involved in that type of production. He lives in Northern California so I know someone somewhere is still doing it. I had my adventures with it 20 years ago, so I'm certain things have changed where I went.
Its awesome like sex. Its as awesome as if you just beat battletoads with your friend with out dieing!
Yeah, I also watched it when I was real little. Saw it a couple days ago and thought it was good. I hear some kids that talk about all these creepy-as-fuck little shows where a couple less-than-intelligent dropouts perform the show. There's also apparently some disturbing audience participation crap. I don't know about all that, but the movie itself is good.
