Wait, how is gangsta rap part of hip-hop again?

I'm curious why people, in general- music, media, etc. will list gangsta rap under hip-hop.

while rap can fit into hip-hop,  not gangsta rap.  Hip hop = funk, rap, baggy pants (not dangling pants), graffiti, etc.
I dress sort of "hip hoppy" (lol) but not anything like a ghetto gangster.

ummmm Linkin Park is a rock band. Snoop Dogg > Linkin Park in Hip Hop..... the only thing Linkin Park did that even relates to rap is when they made a joint-collab album with Jay Z that was overall okay.

i see what you're getting at, but hip hop is more of a style first and foremost.  It basically is a culture of, well, jet set really expresses it imo. 

rap and all that stuff is a spin on hip hop.

Okay, first, Hip Hop is NOT music. Hip hop is a culture in which the music rap resides in.

Gangsta rap is an alternative to rap, but it is still very much rap. And when it is rap, it is still in the Hip hop catagory.

And Linking Park may have some resemblance to the Hop hop culture, but it is not Hip hop.
