That's what Vinny's there for. They sent him early to chronicle the best locations and people for beatings and to threaten NY game store clerks to giving the game out early. He also tapes for them.
What would be great is if they never directly talk about it afterwards and just drop weird hints. Vinny mysteriously is gone away 'on assignment' and when he gets back they just pretend nothing happened when anybody asks. And then in the news some crazy shit goes down in New York, like, some dude gets assassinated or there's a massive bank heist.
