I think its going to be brilliant and Kevin Smith was talking about it he said its phenominal.

i was a fan of the next generation show and a lot of the movies (though some a quite bad). and even though i loved star wars for its fantasy, i liked star trek more because of the plots and the philosophy etc.
and that teaser trailer did give me the chills.

Never was interested in StarTrek, don't plan on be come May.

@Silverain: Yes, the next StarTrek movie will be coming out next May, directed my J.J. Abrams (i.e. producer from Cloverfield)

You don't have to like it to do research on it. When your bored, you can always look it up on a website and find out J.J. Abrams is the director, and it is coming out in May of 2009. :\

so you're a abrams fan? because of lost or allias or something? the fact that abrams is directing it, some known and respected, doesn't interest you at all? even if i wasn't interested in any Star Treks, i'd have to be slightly intrigued by this. could be something special. and its got a terrific cast as well.

I'm neither a Star Trek fan or a J.J. Abrams fan, but it takes less than 5 minutes to look up the latest Star Trek film, link it to J.J. Abrams, and link him to Cloverfield, Lost, and Alias. I don't like any of the mentioned.

I was interested till I saw J.J. Abrams was involved and now I want nothing to do with it. That hack is a cancer in the film and TV business.

neither! all new cast that portrays younger versions of the original show's/movie's cast, eg Captain Kirk/William Shatner
Chris Pine is playing young captain kirk.

what the fuck? the dude has written some great screen plays, did a decent job directing a mediocre script for MI:3
i almost credit him for removing a large majority of crap ass reality tv off the air and getting writers back where they belong and now theres all kinds of cool shows again. brought it back to the good ol x-files days.

M:I 3 was decent but look at the rest. Cloverfield: One of the worst films i've ever seen. Lost: The most obviously written-as-they-go show ever made. Alias: Boring spy failure. Fringe: A knock-off X-Files. And looking at the Wikipedia, I see he co-wrote the Armageddon screenplay and that was absolute garbage.

I'm looking forward to it. I just hope they don't screw it up.
