Valve, because while you can argue rightly the disadvantages of a digital marketplace, Steam made the PC market matter again and literally saved PC gaming.

Modern world cynicism has made me so shaded that the only appropriate answer is "none". At other point in my life, I would have considered Valve or Blizzard as companies that actually cared for things outside their bottom line... how the mighty had fallen.

I wouldn't say that I particularly like any of the companies.. I enjoy the developers sure but like I don't need to gush over corporate. They all have varying degrees of fucking people over when convenient.

Given no criteria for determining “best”, I’m going with Tencent because they are the video game company that I least want to make angry.

@htr10: as an excessive gamer i am surprised that i have never heard of (or at least dont remember) that company

Xseed Games has had a hand in many games that are relevant to my interests, so I'll go with that with Tamsoft as a close second.

Will be honest - THings aren't looking good for Magnavox in 2020 what with the shift away from crts and RF hookups seeming probably pretty final, but I'm holding out hope for an Odyssey comeback in 2021 or 2022.

I thought this was a different question until I saw the choices.

Since this is the best 'console maker' not best 'developer of games' that answer is pretty obviously Sony. Nintendo's hardware is always behind the curver and lackluster, and now that consoles need operating systems & online backends Nintendo's efforts are just pathetic.

Mario and Zelda games are a tier above everything else in terms of game play first and innovation. They've been consistently amazing for over 30 years. Other studios may do better stories and more detailed graphics, but nobody touches Nintendo for fun.

It's Nintendo, even if I think the last few Pokemons were bad.

Vectrex. No one has ever been able to capture light bleeding vertices like a Vectrex.

Joking aside game development is like that overs used Dark Knight/Internet line: Die the hero or live long enough to be the villain.

Certainly not any of those big companies.

Coffee stain studios are pretty cool, any dev whos in there with the community and is genuinly trying to make good games rather than a business trying to make good profit.
