What would you say you do here?

If duplicate feel free to nuke but I wanted to see what all it is that people on the site do for a living.

They call me an engineer but I really never felt super comfortable with the term. I work for a Managed Services Provider in Denver, and specialize in a few key areas; Deployment and Client Environment Management. Fancy way of saying that I help procure, image, and deploy company assets for our company, and go on-site for contractual visits as well as 911-type dispatches. I'm currently doing a longer on-site stint at one of our clients and trying to help get their environment up to snuff as well as start migrating some of the legacy or outdated stuff here to virtualization or cloud. I'm also trying to brush up on Citrix and Azure as they're two areas our company is lacking in knowledge and not-grumpy specialists, but want to start looking at our build/development team shortly after that.

So...what is it that you do?

I'm good with people.

I'm a junior front-end web developer. I started web development about one and a half years ago and right now I'm working at a small company in my hometown. I love my colleagues and the pay is not so bad, but at the same time, the type of work I'm doing here is becoming more and more stale. I'm not talking about front-end being stale, but the sites I have to build and the designs I have to work with doesn't help me grow as a web developer.

Freelance artist, 2D, 3D, primarily specializing in animation mostly. I tend to do a lot of white label work though, so I barely have a chance to show off my work.

I work for the headquarters of a global co-op. More specifically, I'm part of the first line of support for our websites and the tech that we distribute to our members. I'm also a college student studying IT and psychology, so I'm working my way up to getting a development position somewhere eventually.

I'm and HR Coordinator for a non-profit which provides respite and residential housing for kids with complex disabilities, which means I handle all the "people stuff" (hiring and firing, and you name it) but also a whole bunch of other stuff.

I'm a contract iOS developer in London, UK. Curently working for a social networking company. This is an interesting idea for a thread so far!

I'm a Technical Director for animated feature production, I've worked at Laika Entertainment for the past 8 years, on every feature we've put out so far. Basically I write software to help get the movie made. At first it was mostly moving files around converting images, making database entries etc... but I've been able to specialize and focus on supporting the camera, motion control, motion capture, survey, and 3D scanning departments. So my specialty is basically anywhere the practical side and the CG side of our movies start to bump into each other.

Just got promoted to "Senior Software Engineer". I'm on an operations team for an online application for lawyers. I work on resolving incidents that happen in production, debug issues, develop internal tools, keep track of projects that will add new features to our product, and do whatever else I'm told to do.

I also spend a lot of time watching Giant Bomb content, but don't tell anyone about that.

I mainly watch and comment on stuff posted here.

My side gig is a software engineer for a university. My current project is migrating over a bunch of jobs from one ETL tool to another one.

I recently landed my first job out of college as a middle school English teacher. A part of me is still terrified, but I'm really excited to have a classroom to myself and be a liberal-ass teacher in a conservative-ass community.

Project manager, working in benefits outsourcing.

I work in management for a company that transcribes audio for the deaf and hard of hearing. A portion of my work involves me actually transcribing the audio whereas another is spent going over reports, evaluating employees, etc. The hours I work are actually quite slow, and it doesn't take me long to get ahead on my work, so I tend to build gunpla at my desk inbetween important business stuff. Not a bad job.

Unfortunately my contract just ended but I did work for a disability charity doing project work. Friday was my last day, now I'm taking a break to have surgery.

I'm a farmer. I used to be a teacher.

Corporate finance, work with the books at a community bank. My position is mainly operational, about finding errors and working with people to fix them. I do some reporting, work with auditors, all sorts of fun stuff.

@likeametaphor: I'm rooting for you. This is a great topic OP. Right now I am pursuing and undergraduate degree in Social Work and will hopefully end up back at the private school I went to as a counselor.

I'm acopywriter for a company that helps app companies gain more users.

My major job is writing the "description" section for apps that outsource to us. I also write game reviews that serve to drive referal traffic back to the game.

In the top 100 apps right now, I wrote the text for at least a half-dozen of them.
