sometimes it's tough to admit you have anything to do with these counter culture american apparel/urban outfitter cladden people, sometimes it's great to check them out at their finest at www.latfh.com, but you gotta admit some of their music is pretty good. so wat are your favorite hipster bands?
mine are:
-girls
-mates of state
-matt and kim
What's your favorite hipster band?
So are people who hate hipsters, counter-hipsters, and isn't that the same as being a hipster . . . ?
Grizzly Bear/Department of Eagles
or
Sunset Rubdown/Wolf Parade/Frog Eyes/Spencer Krug etc.
or
Autolux
or
Animal Collective
... I dont know, I could never choose a favorite band or song, there are too many great ones to say one is best.
" I feel really old right now. No clue if anything I listen to is 'hipster'. "Don't worry, I don't get it either.

But if you still insist...

I refrain from adding in further opinions
I understand what 'hipster' is as a subcultural? thing...I lived in Athens, GA for ten years. Can't miss it there. I wish I could find the article I read previously...apparently there is speculation that Athens was one of the origins of PBR as hipster drink...which makes some sense, all the scene people were into it as of like 96-97...
Anyways, I just don't understand it 14 years later as it pertains to music! "Hipster" has been used as a label for so long, it's evolved a bit.
This is like when I had to figure out wtf emo was.
" @erinfizz: Like most of these types of things, it seems to be more about fashion trends and attitude than anything substantial, some bands just get lumped in with trends like hipster, or emo (which started off as a genre but has become a fashion statement). This is why I don't listen to music until it's been around a while so I can correctly classify and categorise it. "
lol wut
What qualifies a band as "hipster" and separate from other styles of pop music? I have a feelin' my definition of "hipster" is antiquated by today's standards...unless zoot suits are back in fashion.
