I feel like I might be in the minority in this situation but I think the last time I had a dvd in my laptop was when I was trying to rip the dark knight digital version of a disc, which sounds as dumb as it seems, why can't i use the itunes code on its own?

I dunno, the prospect of a drive less computer seems enticing, I mean everything is available as a download nowadays, maybe the macbook air would make sense in the future?

The day Fallout: New Vegas came out and for some reason I had pre-ordered it from Gamestop. So...that was a while ago.

As in digital VIDEO disc, and not a digital VERSATILE disc? Man... it's been a while. I think I used a DVD audio disc like a month ago if that counts. It has a menu. What?

That's for personal use. Last week at work I had to boot a computer to a goddamn floppy to run a diskwipe program because it was giving me shit about the hard drive being not too corrupt to be readable, but too corrupt for Windows XP Installer to run. A goddamn floppy. The newer computers don't even have a floppy drive.

My DVD drive has been broken for quite awhile now and haven't bothered fixing it because, well, I don't need to use it. Just a simple driver issue after installing Windows 7, which happened around February of this year.

I'd have to say the live WM shows as a whole have been lamer without the drinking. This 'professionalism' kick they're on isn't as fun to watch.

You realize you can just enter your key at blizzard.com and bypass the need to ever use a disc again right?

Yeah, I don't know if you ever listened to the Joystiq Podcast, but it use to be a funny conversational podcast like the Bombcast. They recently turned it into the NPR of gaming and it is the most boring, dry shit I've ever heard. What are people thinking when they take the stuff that made them popular and throw it out the window as an attempt to bring in more people? Not saying WM is doing this, but being straight laced is not what I like about them.

We should turn it into a thing: Whiskey Media's Whiskey From Around the World, where we all send them local whiskey. And it's not like they can refuse to drink it, because that would be rude.

When I installed Kaspersky on my Aunt's computer last week.

For my use, when I installed Crysis 2.

The 20 dollars that a DVD Drive costs, makes it worth it. In a good 5 years I can see it going without it, however OS installs might be complicated. And physical media needs to stay alive, fuck the digital revolution. I want my used CDs, discounted DVDs and being able to loan things to friends!

I watch most of the movies I see on my computer, and since Netflix streaming is useless here in Canada that means buying DVDs and inserting them into my computer.

I couldn't go disc-less because I still own many old games on discs.  Also, throwing away the option to buy the retail version of a game if need be seems imprudent.

Anyway, I'm replaying Oblivion right now, and that's on disc.

Movie? Can't recall, as I don't tend to buy movies as I never watch them more then once. If you mean and DVD, then it would have been during the Steam summer sale when I installed Dawn of War Retribution to get that achievement.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever put a DVD (as in digital video disc) into my computer.  I have two consoles and a dedicated DVD player for that.

If you mean a DVD for a game then last week when I was playing Elder Scrolls IV.  I have the retail edition and it requires you to have the disc in tray to start the game.

I tried a few months ago, but it wouldn't play. The strange thing about this is that I installed Windows 7 (comes in a DVD) in this very machine. Fucking magnets.

About 3 hours ago, I had "Into the wild" on dvd. That was the last film I watched, before that was disk 2 of Battlestar Galactica Season 2.

Game wise I can not think, as I try to use Steam or register my game codes with the internet service so I dont need to have a disk in the drive to play. Probably looking back it was DiRT 2 or Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 or something.

The last time I had a disc in my computer was September of last year. It was a Netflix disc, the last one I had before going streaming only. Shortly after I was doing some work in my computer and forgot to reconnect the drive. I haven't bothered to yet because I haven't had a need to put in another disc. Before that it had probably been about 18 months since the last disc I put in. I have a Win 7 license, but I find it's much easier and faster to keep it on a flash drive for reinstalls.

When my girlfriend wanted to get a new laptop about 8 months ago I helped her pick one out that doesn't even have an optical drive. She hasn't needed it once and the reduced weight and thickness are definitely worth it.
