Seriously, I know this chick who is like a straight A student and she acts like a total dumbass, and so do a lot of her friends. An example, in history last year we were going to watch a show on how the titanic may have really sunk, and she said, "OMG The Titanic was real, I thought that was just a movie." Then her friend said "OMG, me too!" Why the hell do people act like that, they act as if they have no common sense?
They try to get a laugh out of the class and most the students probably think it's funny but I think it's fucking retarded and they need to be taken outside and shot.

Nah. I'm the hardest worker I know and I did horribly in school. I never did homework or studied. I'm a hard worker because when people are depending on me, I always do my best. In school it just didn't matter to me. So basically, these chicks are just really stupid and care way too much about themselves.
Just so I'm clear. Being a good student doesn't mean you're an arrogant bitch. But if you are a good student, there's a good chance that's the reason.

I had a few classmates like that in the school / college / uni i used to go to the best thing to do is ignore them eventually they will get the message and shut up if that doesn't work you should just push one of them down the stairs
She's mixing up 'They're laughing with me, Michael' , with people laughing at her. And if she's doing what you think she might be, it sounds like she's trying to sirsumvent working hard for her grades.
People develop social circles. Within those circles, they lose their inhibitions and become more comfortable with themselves. In turn, they get too comfortable outside their friends and act stupid around people that don't get their behavior or aren't ok with it.
It's almost like a universal law that to act silly is synonymous with acting stupid. That part I don't get, but that seems to be normal.

In terms of how smart you are. I'm a senior and have like a 94-93 average. I'm not even in the top 100 in my class and I KNOW I am smarter than a lot of those people. Hell if it was arranged by SAT scores and not grades I'd most likely be in the top 20. That's because you can't truly prepare for something like that. It's all about reasoning and logic.
And its not just me. I know quite a few people that don't have the greatest grades but still are blatantly smarter than others with the grades to show.
To be honest, why does anyone do anything? People are always trying to impress, and if acting dumb is their way of trying to impress then just let them be.

@chrissedoff: Do you know me? I've had jobs since I was 15 and usually have had more than one at a time. I move fast and get work done fast. I've never been fired or anything, and currently have two jobs. Every boss I've ever had has loved me to death for my hard work, and always turn to me first. And I just got back from mowing my Grandma's lawn on my night off. Trust me, I'm the hardest worker I know.
But without sounding much douchier, I'll get back on track. Those chicks are dumb.
