Your Favourite Song of All Time?

Narrowed it down to three, as of right now. This list will definitely change later on, but as a snapshot, these are my three favourites.

Harry Chapin: Taxi (note: I went to get a link for this, and couldn't stop myself from listening to all 7 minutes. Gets me every time.)

Bruce Springsteen: Stolen Car (Best breakup song ever.)

This is a favorite.

I will never understand people who can consolidate every single song they've ever heard and choose one as their "favorite," regardless of mood, genre, season, time, or literally hundreds of other factors that detail why we listen to different types of music.

Can't exactly pretend it's an original choice.

If we're picking all time, at least. Right now, it's either Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology) or Ignition (Remix).

Mine would be Dvorak - New World Symphony 4th Movement.

There's no one specific song I can say I enjoy above all others because there's so many I really enjoy and they all mean different things to me, so it's hard to compare them and say "this is my favourite" but one that does spring to mind and would be at least in the Top 20 for me is Blink 182 - I Miss You

For some reason it strikes an emotional chord with me and makes me pause for thought, regardless of what I'm doing. Thoroughly enjoyable song.

@NecroMongo: I've always been cautious of Douglas P post Crisis, and aware of Boyd Rice's sketchiness - and when I say 'sketchy' I'm talking about the Nazi stuff.

I've thought about this for a long while. A lot of contenders over the years. I've gone with The Undertones - Family Entertainment. It's a subversive song about incest in a family - Enjoy!

Also The Replacements - Bastards of Young is a pretty high contender.

"Ignition (Remix)" by R. Kelly. I have never not wanted to listen to that song.

How do you people just choose one favorite song like this?! I couldn't even if I wanted to!

I have many favourites. It would be impossible for me to pick just one, because I love them all for very different reasons... but these are a few songs that come pretty damn close!

First song that popped into my head, because a favorite song of "ALL TIME" is kind of a daunting task.

One of the few songs from my youth that I probably like even more now, and it gets better every time I listen to it.

The gentlest, sweetest, yet devastating and heaviest song ever written. I still get chills and goosebumps so hard that they hurt.

So many great songs all up on this thread. This was an incredibly hard choice, I can't say there is one favorite song of all time but I really do love this song. Something by the Beatles.

That's a pretty broad question. It would depend on my mood and the genre. But for the sake of this, I'll say a couple of my favorites would be Al otro lado del río by Jorge Drexler, I.G.Y. by Donald Fagen, and......um, Road Angel by The Doobie Brothers.

@Dangerloves: In DiJ's case it was used as an aesthetic in a few albums. In Boyd Rice's case it was used as a form of provocation. There are however no racial undertones to it all. Don't let the nazi thing put you off because it's not really there and definitely not a reason to miss out some amazing music.

Picking favorite in such a broad selection is for crazy people. I could maybe tell you a favorite out of a subgenre or artist, but there is no number one "Song".

I've thought about this before and I've never been able to narrow it down to just one song. Top 3 and even then I can't even pick an order is as for as I can get the list down.
