It sounds like you're blowing this out of proportion. You could make a talk-show that's gaming related if you wanted to, and if you don't want to talk about games, Twitch is absolutely a gaming-dedicated site and I'm sure there's a more appropriate service out there.
If you made a talk show that was as off-topic as the Giant Bombcast, I wonder if the mods would consider it sufficiently "gaming related"?
It'd probably depend on how much negative attention you drew to yourself.
We can all get in a huge Internet hissy fit over this, but it does make a lot of sense. Twitch is a game-centric streaming service, so even if the Playroom controversy hadn't happened, I would expect they'd still frown on non-game related streams.
Twitch streams have always been about gaming-related things only. You can still do talk shows, but playing "doctor" doesn't count. ;D
What if twitch was much more and they include different live streams from around the world. News, medicine, animals, science sports and entertainment. What if they named it after a common name like justin with a domain of television. What a wonderful world that'd be.
Beat me to it. Twitch literally has a sister site full of people just talking into webcams if that's your thing.
It was really bizarre for me to see the reaction to playroom streams over the past couple of days. It's like the concept of streaming has come full circle and now streaming anything that isn't games is seen as novel.
