New Game Plus

Finally finished the game tonight and while the ending was interesting I was hoping for a bit more. I've literally only played the new game plus for the first quest but has anyone gone in further? I finhished my first run with 33 monsters i believe and only one came outside of doing a run. I assume the idea is to get all of them for the perfect game but does anyone have any better info?

Was coming here to ask a similar question so I will piggyback my question off yours. When you start NG+ do you keep all your existing upgrades, monsters caught, spells, gold, etc etc? I've been putting off starting NG+ for a few days as I'm not sure if all my progress will carry over.

No progress carries over. It's possible to get all monsters on the very first run as far as I know. I've just now figured out how to unlock all monsters so I don't yet know how that effects the ending.
