Sure, these days have almost every game sporting the newfangled 3D, but way back when, everyone had to live with plain old 2D. 2D, or two dimensions, limit the game to scrolling backgrounds, but some games even now make use of this basic concept.
The ultimate pressure feature. Players have to complete the task at hand, be it defeating opponents or cutting the right wire, in the allotted time.
Usually done for stylistic purposes, these characters or objects lack limbs connecting their hands or wheels or other extremities to their body. The resulting appendage merely floats in mid-air in a mildly disturbing way.
A heads-up display is a graphical overlay of vital information used in most modern games.

The act of traversing space while attached to a piece game geometry. Sometimes via a rope, or other grapple like object.
If the protagonist is standing on an unstable platform for a certain amount of time, it will eventually drop. Usually there is a pit below, or some other hazardous danger.
