Basically, they need to scrap the shotgun (or make it a power weapon like in halo 3), make everything faster paced, as in increased running while aiming speed, damage ratios, etc and finally they need to actually design the maps properly, with a decent spawn system (like in halo 3) instead of throwing together a load of nonfunctional crap.   Oh and have a DECENT matchmaking system (...like halo 3)  Then i reckon, you would have an excellent multiplayer mode. I highly doubt the Next gears of war will be released in 2010, Seeing both Halo reach and Project Natal with its games being released in 2010. I would say its going to be a 2011 release also it will probably be a spin off not a Gears 3.

The only way for them to finish the Gears story arc (well, I assume they will finish it with a third game) on a high note would be for the humans to lose. There is already far too many "Humans pwn the aliens in the end" stories out there. Having said that, though, the majority of GoW players are more interested in the multiplayer than anything else, so it probably wouldn't make much difference in the long run.

This isn't surprising at all. Why wouldn't they be working on the next Gears? Usually when a developer finishes a game, they start work on a new product...

Yeah it seems like a Gears game will come out ever other year and truthfully I really didn't care for Gears 2. I couldn't even get through it and I loved Gears 1, I played through it multiple times.

I'm surprised kind of by how many people think it will come out. Maybe it is just wishful thinking, but I don't think there will be one. It makes sense for their two year development cycle, sure. But does MS really need another heavy hitter for next year? Conviction, Mass Effect, Alan Wake, Fable 3, Halo Reach, and a barrage of multiplatform games (call of duty, fallout new vegas, etc.) and Project Natal are all going to be out next year. Is there room for Gears amidst all of that? Sure, but I think most people would like to see Epic take their time with the next one and put out a game with balanced/fixed multiplayer as well as a great single player experience. But like I said, that may just be wishful thinking on my part.

Anyone who thinks there's a Natal/Gears 3 cross over is crazy.

Fix multiplayer or cut it out completely.

I am sure Gears 3 will be played and loved by me as soon as it gets out. But for some reason its not a series I can get excited about prerelease. 

of course theyre working on gears 3. but i dont think its coming out this year cuz the 360 holiday season is already too packed.

Considering that it is one of biggest selling franchises out there, having Gears 3 in 2010 is a no brainer. Don't care what CliffyB and Epic had to say otherwise. They are lying. You will most likely see it at E3 for big reveal.

So we're a week away from GDC folks, there's a precedent for having Gears 3 announced next week.
