The third and final installment in the Marcus Fenix trilogy. Taking place on the apocalyptic planet Sera, 18 months after the ending of Gears of War 2, players will once again take control of C.O.G. soldier Marcus Fenix as he takes on the Locust threat and their Lambent rivals.
@Delta_Ass: I read all the gears books. Women don't fight because the population is too low. They are encouraged to settle down and have children to bolster the populace. Anya is one of the few that joined military intelligence before E-day. The fact that she's on the ground now despite never having fought in a ground war, shows how dire the situation must be on Sera.
OKay the 4 player co-op, that's a good thing. Now at least it'll be distinguishable from the first two. They didn't improve enough in the first sequel, and it got stale, personally.
I first thought that was Bernie from the novels but I knew she looked too young. I can not wait for this I was so surprised when I saw the trailer was posted and I came!
@Ertard: I think he was, or at the least there was a black character in the trailer firing his weapon alongside Marcus and Dom. If i recall he had like a headband or something on.
The confirmation of 4-player co-op is interesting, at least to the point that it likely means that you'll always have a squad of 4 through the whole game (or likely many instances of splitting up in 2's). Or maybe not, but that would be kinda nutty.
With the addition of Anya, I can already speculate that out of the 5 characters shown in the trailer, at the very least 1 of them could die before the end of the game, because then it keeps the mechanics of having 4 players to the end boss satisfied.
This of course speaks nothing to obviously a lot more characters dying in the end, but that is another story.
I think that big tentacle thing looks a bit stupid. Like- If it came up mid-game as a boss fight then sure, I'll take it, but it seems a bit weird to show it in the very first trailer.
Also here's an interesting interview with Cliff. I say interesting because he seems really genuine. Like the stuff he said about reading every single article and havin Google Alerts, gettin all sad about people complaining about matchmaking and just wishing people would talk more about the campaign parts they put the most work into- I make little tiny games n I totally get what he's talkin about. Fan reaction to Gears sucks. It's like he's not even selling it or hyping people up, he's just worried noone's gonna notice the character development.

What part? I think the weapons, enemy design, horde mode and the whole game's personality were way better. The levels had a way bigger scale aswell.
anyone else think's that this is more of a resistance game rather than just an army fighting like the previous Gears games? I don't know if I'm making my point but if the game is how I think it will, I'm sure it will be pretty damn kick ass. :D so fucking exited!

Baird is on the right, Cole is to the left of him. Marcus is in the middle. Anya is behind and to the left of him, and Dom is to the left of her on his back or something.

I'm pretty sure thats the point. She's always been there to tell them what to do and where to go... now that the shit has really hit the fan, hard, she's on the ground with them, helping fight the good, yet seemingly impossible fight.
When I initially saw the trailer I immediately reacted with 'WTF? Why is the trailer taking place before the first game?' The difference in everybody's appearance and the presentation of the Pendulum Lancer lead me to believe that the trailer took place before the first game. I thought Dom was was his older brother Carlos and Anya was her mother (I forgot her name). After watching it again I saw the standard Lancer along with Cole and Baird. Soon afterward it was easy to understand that Anya was Anya and Dom was Dom.
Showing the game in such a way applifies the desperation. The COGs are forced to resort to old weaponry and using intelligence officers as militia. I love it. In a way, it seems that this installment will closely resemble the first game with its hopelessness, one that has been lost in the sequel.
The 4 player co-op will be interesting, especially seeing how they use the branching paths w/4 players. Will they ever split everyone up alone....bet they do. Did some people actually not get that that was Dom?...pretty obvious to me, but oh well. Griefbeard for sure.

He still will when talking to Anya out of habit.
I'm guessing the team of playable characters will be Marcus, Dom, Cole and Anya. Baird and new Carmine will probably die mid-game. Or will it let us choose from a list of 6?
I want to be able to play as Cole Train the whole single player campaign. Hey, if they're going to be there the whole time there's no point in NOT letting me do that.
Didn't they say COG had fallen or something like that?
4-player co-op is cool, but I'm interested to see how they juggle that between 5-7 characters (Marcus, Dom, Cole, Baird, Anya, Sgt ____, and Dizzy(?)).
