Odd Job!
GoldenEye 007
Game » consists of 7 releases. Released Nov 02, 2010
GoldenEye 007 (for the Wii and Nintendo DS) is a re-imagining of the 1997 Nintendo 64 classic of the same name (as well as the 1995 movie it was based off of).
GoldenEye Rides A Very Strange Line
I'm curious as to how 4-player split screen will work when everyone is using a wiimote nunchuck control scheme
and if the game plays better when using the classic controller pro, then what's the point of it being a Wii game to begin with other than being a nostalgia laden cash-grab?
It's too bad Nintendo of Japan couldn't just act like adults and greenlight the deal MS wanted that would have had the original on the VC, and a graphical update on XB360. I would much prefer simply downloading the N64 version. I'm betting on this game simply not being as good.
edit: I'm not saying that this game could not benefit having real online play. But Goldeneye's rights are split between so many people that it would be nearly impossible to have a multi-platform release.
definaltely going to check this out, though if it was using the classic controller pro putting it against the standard xbox and ps3 control configs, then i feel it is going to be another instance of a great potential idea ruined by being aimed at a console with the wrong audience.
"I personally do not know how to feel about this game. On the one hand, childhood revisited. On the other, "Please leave my childhood alone." "
I was trying to find the right words, but I think this sums up my feelings quite nicely.
I still call shenanigans over replacing Pierce Brosnan with Daniel Craig, though.
God damn you Activision! GoldenEye without Pierce Brosnan?! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!! *facepalm*
Even so, I think this would make more sense on a handheld since there's only one 'analog' to work with. You know what? fuck that, you want GoldenEye? play it on the freaking N64 like you should.
If I wanted to play Call of Duty, I would. On my real video game system. Making Goldeneye a Call of Duty clone, except uglier and with an inevitably worse online system, is a pretty terrible idea. The biggest problem is that it's a Wii game. How's the online going to be? Oh, stupid and broken and quickly hacked? Awesome. How about the graphics? Oh, well.. those look... crappy. Oh, I get it - just like the original Goldeneye! I can't wait to plug my controller into my controller so that I can have fun playing it with way-too-sensitive dual analog sticks! Yay, Nintendo!
I didn't like it back then, maybe I'll like it more now.
Oh wait... It's on the Wii. Maybe I won't even play it at all.
I seriously doubt the need for a Goldeneye remake in 2010.
The fps scene/genre has moved on since the time of GE. The remake of the other Rare classic Perfect Dark is another reminder of this.
I loved Ge back in the day on my N64, but I just don't understand the cheers at the conference when it was announced. The rebirth of this game has nothing to do with pleasing the fans of the original. A simple cash in, and you have to wonder how well it will sell on the slow Wii 3rd party market. An old Bond license is hardly going to connect with the typical stereotype wii player.
What made Goldeneye great back in the day, has been done over and over, and it has been done better, way better. It now has more way more competition, and I just don't think it is going to be good enough to beat the rest. Oh and the wii-mote isn't going to do it any justice.
I cannot support this. I don't care what legal mumbo jumbo meant that Daniel Craig had to be in this because he is the current bond. I just don't care.
Daniel Craig = NO SALE. Sorry. No. Absolutely not. I will not support this.
Childish? Possibly, I reserve the right to make illogical decisions, but I fucking hate Daniel Craig, and am a big Pierce Brosnan fan, Goldeneye is one of my favourite bond movies, and the game was one of my favourite games. A remake was something I always wanted, and never thought would happen. Unfortunately, with Daniel Craig's face on it, I DO NOT WANT. :(
I for one am pretty stoked... Goldeneye was an awesome game on 64 and I cant wait to jump in and have flashbacks to being a teenager playing all day with my buds.. Tha t said guys.. what do you expect? The N64 is gone and is not coming back. I still have mine but I lost Goldeneye somewhere along the years.. prolly let a friend borrow it. Every Bond game released after Goldeneye sucked ass so this is a chance to relive one of my most favorite games of all time with a much needed update.. Cheers
