Gran Turismo 5 is the fifth edition in the long running racing game series by Polyphony Digital. The game sports over 1000 vehicles, damage modeling on race cars, a dedicated television channel, lots of races, 16 player online multiplayer, and active weather.
I've got about 30 of my favorite albums ripped to my PS3 hard drive and a long playlist of many of the songs I hope to use as the background music for the races and menus. I can get it to play my music, but I'm not sure how to select the playlist properly or set it to shuffle, as the system seems to have a mind of its own. It forces me to select a specific track, so I did that within the playlist I've created. I have the options set to 'shuffle' and 'folder,' but the game still seems to do its own thing. Sometimes I'll boot up and it will play an album in order, sometimes it will seem to shuffle within the playlist but I'll hear a specific song multiple times in a play session. I want to use my playlist and keep it on shuffle at all times-- what am I doing wrong? Has anyone been able to make sense of the custom music options? If so, I'd love a guide or at least a few pointers. Thanks!
For anyone wondering how to get the game to shuffle a playlist, follow these steps:
1) rip the music you want to your PS3 hard drive 2) create a playlist of the music you want to use within the game 3) start GT5 and go to options in the main menu, then select audio 4) enable custom soundtracks by checking the boxes and then click the option to select the custom soundtrack menus (one for races and another for menus) 5) select any song within the playlist and make sure it is set to "shuffle" and repeat is turned off
If you followed these steps, your entire playlist will be played randomly within races and menus. My problem was that I had repeat turned on, which was only shuffling when I entered a different mode and played an album in order when I was within the current mode.
