    So, to make things short, is it possible to play this game online with someone who JUST has GTA4?  Or would the person have to have bought Lost and Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony for it to work?

    Each online is seperate, with new modes and skins. Go into the online through the original IV with Niko to play with people who didn't buy the Dlc.
