    Overview

    Halfway is a turn-based strategy game, developed by Robotality and published by Chucklefish. It was released on 22nd August 2014.

    It takes place several centuries in the future, on-board a colony ship in deep space. You control a crew of soldiers who must defend the ship from an alien incursion. While greatly influenced by the X-Com franchise, Halfway differs in that each soldier is a defined character, each with their own backstory, personality, and skill tree.

    Gameplay

    The game contains two distinct area types. First are the hub areas where mission selection, purchasing of supplies, inventory management, and crew conversations take place. The second are the combat areas throughout the ship where intense turn-based tactical firefights occur. The completion of certain missions will lead to the acquisition of a new crew member. Each saved crew member has a unique tactical skill and associated side mission.

    In addition to clearing each combat area of enemies, crates can be looted for ammo, health packs, and higher level gear. Unwanted lower level gear may be recycled into credits that can be spent on ammo, grenade and health purchases back at the hub areas. Each crew member's base stats can also be permanently increased by stim packs which can only be acquired via loot crates.
